EMPLOYEE ASSAULT. Any case of employee assault shall be promptly reported by the employee to the building principal or the employee’s immediate supervisor. It is the Employee’s responsibility to report the assault to the appropriate state or local law enforcement officials and prosecutors if the employee desires.
EMPLOYEE ASSAULT. O-1 Violence In The Workplace Violence shall be defined as any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted during the course of his/her employment. It includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons and severe verbal abuse. The Hospital agrees that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. The Hospital shall continue to ensure that the Violence in the Workplace Policies are maintained in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). The Employer will provide training, information and written copies if requested, to all new employees during their orientation. The Hospital will inform the JHSC in writing, of all incidents related to violence within four (4) days. For critical injuries the hospital will notify a JHSC representative and the Union immediately. The Ministry will be notified in writing, with a copy to the union within forty eight hours. Such notices will contain all the information as prescribed in section 5 of the health care regulation. The Hospital will consider requests for reimbursement for damages incurred to the employee’s personal property such as eyeglasses, ripped uniforms, personal clothing as a result of being assaulted while performing her work. The Hospital and the Union recognize that, where preventative measures have failed to prevent violent incidents, counseling and support must be available through the employee assistance program to help victims recover from such incidents.
EMPLOYEE ASSAULT. Employees shall immediately report cases of assault or threats of assaults suffered by them in connection with their employment to their principal or other immediate superior. Such notification shall immediately be forwarded to the Superintendent. Request from the employee for information in the possession of the Superintendent relating to the incident or the persons involved shall be complied with to the extent permitted by law.

EMPLOYEE ASSAULT. In the event a secretary is physically assaulted by a student or any person who is not employed by the Board which arises out of and in the course of his/her employment, it shall be promptly reported to his/her immediate supervisor and the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources/Labor Relations (or designee). The Board will provide legal counsel to advise the secretary of his/her rights and obligations with respect to such assault and shall render the necessary assistance to the secretary in connection with the handling of the incident with the law enforcement and judicial authorities.
EMPLOYEE ASSAULT. In the event a paraprofessional is verbally or physically assaulted by a student or any person who is not employed by the Board which arises out of and in the course of his/her employment, it shall be promptly reported to his/her immediate supervisor and the Superintendent or his or her designee. The Member shall provide a written statement of the incident to the District within three (3) business days of the incident. The Board shall assist the Employee in contacting law enforcement authorities regarding such assaults. Employees shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of pupils and property. The Board shall maintain errors and omissions and general liability insurance. The Board will provide legal counsel to advise the paraprofessional of his/her rights and obligations with respect to such assault and shall render the necessary assistance to the employee in connection with the handling of the incident with the law enforcement and judicial authorities.
