Emergency Hires. 4.5.1 An emergency hire is an abrupt short turn-around time in which a faculty must begin a class, e.g., when a class is abandoned by current faculty or no pool exists for replacement personnel.
Emergency Hires. A. When there is insufficient time for the ordinary hiring process, and there is no one in the department applicant pool, an emergency hire may be done. according to procedures established by the faculty of the discipline in consultation with the xxxx.
Emergency Hires. Emergency Hires fill part-time faculty positions that become vacant due to the sudden unavailability of staff during an ongoing semester, during the four weeks immediately prior to a semester, summer session, or intersession, or when classes or services are added following the start of a semester, summer session, or intersession due to increased enrollment demands. When an Emergency Hire position is identified, the Division Xxxx and department chair (if applicable, and/or other discipline faculty as designated by the Xxxx) shall make every effort to employ a part-time faculty member in the Preferred Hiring Pool. If the Emergency Hire position cannot be filled with a part time faculty member in the Preferred Hiring Pool, the Division Xxxx and department chair (if applicable, and/or other discipline faculty as designated by the Xxxx) shall make a good faith effort to: • Review the database of discipline employees not in the Preferred Hiring Pool • Coordinate with Human Resources for the review application materials of outside candidates • Interview candidates who most closely meet the desirable skills and experience of the position(s) • Select an individual to fill the unexpected vacancy Emergency hires from the non-Preferred Hiring Pool will not automatically enter the Preferred Hiring Pool, unless they qualify as described above.
Emergency Hires. The Employer shall notify the CSEA Unit President in writing of all jobs filled on an emergency basis.
Emergency Hires. Teachers who are hired on an emergency basis shall accrue and acquire seniority as if they were replacement teachers. Emergency hires are to fill unforeseen vacancies occurring when a full search cannot occur. Emergency hired employees shall be separated no later than the end of a contract year.
Emergency Hires. In unforeseen circumstances when there is an urgent and unmet need where time doesn’t allow for the full process, a part-time faculty may be hired for one quarter without going through this full process. In this situation, the faculty may be observed twice during the quarter by the Department Coordinator (or faculty designee). Assuming the need for the position extends beyond the one quarter, the part-time faculty hired through the emergency process will be retained for the second quarter (except for just cause) during which time the job shall be posted and a recruitment shall be conducted in a timely manner for the 3rd quarter from when the emergency hire was done. The emergency hire is encouraged to formally apply.
Emergency Hires. Section 1. Faculty on temporary hire appointments serving full-time are eligible to participate in service work. Department Chairs should work with full-time temporary hires to identify department and college service opportunities.
Emergency Hires. The Zoo may exempt certain positions from the ten (10) day posting requirement when the duration of those positions is limited to sixty (60) days. Emergency Hires. Faculty members who are identified as “Emergency Hires” for the Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 semesters and who have a hybrid and/or online and/or remote instructional assignment shall be required to meet full distance education certification prior to the start of the class assigned. Emergency hires who cannot meet the full distance education certification requirements shall have twenty-one (21) days from the start of the class assigned to the unit member to complete the minimum competency requirements or the full distance education certification requirements. Unit members shall provide verification of the full certification to the Distance Education Coordinators via email. Emergency Hires. Emergency Hires shall mean those employees who have been hired by the Port to meet temporary needs. Such employees are hired without the necessary posting requirements to qualify them for regular employment. The employment period for Emergency Hires shall not exceed one hundred eighty (180) calendar days between employment and termination. Extensions may be approved by Human Resources.
