WAGE PROTECTION PLAN. If an employee is unable to attend work due to sickness or accident (other than industrial), weekly indemnity will be paid as an Employment Insurance Carve-out or SUB plan. Employee will apply for “Sick Benefits” from EI and Company Group Insurance will supplement EI payment up to 70% In the event disability results from a Motor Vehicle Accident the Auto Insurer shall be the first payer. The Company will provide Top-up benefit to the maximum level under the Benefit plan. All benefits will be calculated on a five working day week. Payment of benefit will commence after a waiting period as follows: Accident (non Industrial) Zero working days Hospitalization From the 1st day of hospitalization/day surgery to be paid from the first day, effective December 1, 2000 Sickness Five working days Disability benefit will be paid when sickness and vacation coincide. Where this occurs the employee will be required to take vacation or balance of vacation at a later date. The dates for this postponed vacation will be arranged by agreement between the employer and the employee.
