The Vacation Bids clause establishes the process by which employees can request their preferred vacation periods, typically by submitting bids according to a set schedule or priority system. Vacation Bids. A. Each shift, under the direction of that Battalion Chief’s Shift Representative shall coordinate that shift’s vacation leave bidding in accordance with the wishes of the Battalion Chiefs assigned to that shift. In situations where an amenable compromise cannot be reached, seniority-in-rank shall be the determining factor for who shall be awarded the time period in dispute. Employees will select vacation days by November 30th of each year and the District will post the selected vacation days by December 15th for the following calendar year.
Vacation Bids. 8.9.1 Vacation will be bid by base and in order of seniority for each classification (FA or CSM) and in accordance with Article 5.3. Each vacation slot available will indicate the number of CSMs and FAs that are able to bid for such slot. Other restrictions may be indicated for Cabin Crew holding an instructor, recruiter, language or other qualification or designations. 8.9.2 The Company will, by March 1st of each year, distribute Vacation Bid Packages by base for the following vacation year. The Company will give prior notice of delay to the Union if any unusual circumstances occur. 8.9.3 In order to determine if a CCM is bidding as a CSM or FA, please refer to Article 5.3. 8.9.4 Vacations Bid Packages will contain the following information: • Number of vacation slots available for each week of the vacation year • The CCM’s name and classification (CSM or Flight Attendant) • The number of vacation entitlement days to which the CCM is entitled. • The number of slots available for CSMs, FAs, instructors, language qualified and other designations with restrictions during each available slot. 8.9.5 The CCM will, by the fifteenth (15th) day of March, submit his Vacation Bid. 8.9.6 Each CCM must submit vacation bids with a sufficient number of choices of vacation slots. If he does not submit a sufficient number of choices, he will be assigned a vacation in an available vacation slot. 8.9.7 If two (2) CCMs in the same classification wish to bid for their vacation slots together, they must indicate this on their vacation bid. The seniority ranking in the classification of the most junior CCM will govern the award, even if the CCMs are ultimately awarded separate vacations. If a joint award cannot be made, individual awards, in accordance with each CCM’s Vacation Bid, will be made on the basis of those vacation allotment weeks that remain.
Vacation Bids. Vacation bidding commences promptly following the publication of the April shift bid award (i.e., no later than February 15 unless the parties agree otherwise). Vacation bids will be awarded on the basis of seniority within a specific seniority group by shift. The Company will consider an employee to be “within a specific seniority group” (1) if the employee is in the seniority group on the day the vacation bid closes; or (2) the employee has received an award under Article 10 prior to the day the vacation bid closes and will begin work in the new classification prior to the start of the vacation year. Once awarded, vacation periods may not be changed or canceled except by agreement of the Company and the employee or as provided elsewhere in this Agreement. For purposes of vacation bidding under Article 30, there shall be two “shifts” as follows: Seniority Group(s) Day Shift Evening Shift Technical Groups Base A and C Line A, D, and F Field Service Base B and D Line B, C, E, and G
Vacation Bids. Bidding for the first and second go around will be completed between January 15th and March 1st of each year.

  • Vacation Bidding 1. Vacations will be bid by shifts in a Bid Area, except that in any Bid Area having less than 50 employees, vacations shall be bid by Bid Area. When mutually agreed between the Company and the local Union Business Agent/Chief Stewards/Coordinator vacations may be bid by groupings other than those listed herein. Provided that the Company will not unreasonably withhold agreement to such grouping as the local Business Agent advocates. It shall not be unreasonable for the Company to withhold agreement if the proposed grouping can reasonably be expected to materially affect the operation or any portion thereof. 2. In each vacation bidding group, the Department Head or Designee, will determine the total number of vacation weeks to be taken including regular earned vacation and deferred Holidays. For determining weeks to be bid, two (2) or less days will not be considered as a week. 3. If the total number of weeks to be taken is fifty (50) weeks or less, only one (1) person will be awarded a vacation in any given week (considered as a column). 4. If the total number is greater than fifty (50) weeks, a full column will be available for bidding each fifty (50) weeks, and if necessary, a partial column will be available for any remaining weeks in the last column. This method is used to avoid scheduling more people than necessary to be on vacation in any specific week. 5. Once a year, generally in early November, employees will bid for available vacation in the succeeding year based on adjusted Company Service Date. The Company will post notice of where and when employees will bid their initial and subsequent rounds of vacation. Employees will at that specific time, have three (3) ways to notify management of their bid preferences. They may show up in person, or telephone in their preference, or submit a written pre-bid to the designated management representative prior to any particular vacation bid round. Written confirmation will be provided to employees submitting written pre-bids. Once the entire vacation biding process is completed the vacation listings will be posted no later than December 15th. 6. Employees may bid one (1) continuous vacation period, which may include all or any portion of the vacation to which he is entitled. However if the employee is eligible for less than ten (10) working days the employee may not split the available vacation. Once an employee is eligible for ten (10) working days or more, the employee may split the employee’s vacation into separate periods of complete weeks and if a partial week remains, it will be taken in conjunction with one (1) of the employee’s complete weeks. 7. Once each employee has had the opportunity to bid, additional rounds of bidding will be permitted following the same procedure used on the initial round. 8. If an employee does not bid at all, during any given round, the employee will not be given the opportunity to bid until the next round. However if an employee misses his bid time but calls or shows up to bid before that particular round is complete, he will be allowed to bid at that time from the remaining available weeks. 9.   • Vacation Buy Back Employees shall have the option of requesting pay in lieu of time off up to a maximum of 144 hours of vacation time each year, during each year of the contract in increments of eight (8) hrs. Such requests are subject to the approval of the department head and the availability of funds.

  • Vacation; Sick Leave During the Employment Term, the Executive shall be entitled to not less than four (4) weeks of vacation during each calendar year and sick leave in accordance with the Company’s policies and practices with respect to its executives.
