Student Evaluation of Teaching. ‌ Student evaluation of teaching is designed to provide faculty with a basis for maintaining the quality of the courses and enhancing teaching effectiveness. The Federation accepts the administration's right to conduct student assessment of faculty using a campus-wide assessment instrument which will be mutually agreed upon in the Federation Administration Committee and voted on by the faculty. A college may not make additions or deletions to the institutional instrument. However, additional instruments may be administered by college faculty. (The agreed upon instrument which is included as Attachment A shall be used until replaced by a new mutually agreed upon instrument.)

Student Evaluation of Teaching. ‌ Each appropriate unit of the faculty shall make provisions for student evaluation of faculty teaching through the use of a standard evaluation form established by the University. The unit may also include a form which has been developed for the specific use of that unit. Units that choose to include a supplemental form must develop and periodically review the evaluation form in coordination with the unit’s policy, executive, or other appropriate representative faculty body in the unit. The results of the evaluations, including from the unit’s unique evaluation form, shall be made available to the individual, to the unit committee(s) charged with making personnel decisions (to include, but not limited to, renewal, tenure, promotions, and salary adjustments), and to the chair and other appropriate administrative officers for the purpose of assessing the individual’s teaching performance and for the purpose of program review. However, data from student evaluations will not be the only basis for comparisons between units. Faculty may also submit supplementary teaching materials (up to seven [7] items), in addition to student evaluations of teaching to the unit committee(s) charged with making personnel decisions (to include, but not limited to, renewal, tenure, promotions, and salary adjustments). Faculty may also submit them to the chair and other appropriate administrative officers for the purpose of assessing the individual’s teaching performance and for the purpose of program review. The anonymity of the students shall be preserved. A committee composed of three (3) members appointed by the Association and three (3) members appointed by the University shall serve as an advisory board to the Xxxxxxx; and shall consider and make recommendations on revisions in the Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET). The University and the Association shall each appoint one (1) member of the committee to serve as co-chairs. The committee shall also consider requests for waivers from the use of the SET, or proposals for alterations in the SET. Each appointing entity should appoint, among its appointees, some person having expertise in evaluation. If the committee makes recommendations that the Xxxxxxx is not prepared to implement, these differences will be discussed with the committee. If there is not a satisfactory resolution to these differences, the current standard form shall remain in use.

Student Evaluation of Teaching. All courses taught as part of the public health curriculum, as reviewed and approved by the UMN/SPH educational policy committee, require the completion of an end-of-semester/course evaluation by students (including  /CVM Students) according to UMN/SPH customs and University of Minnesota standards. Such evaluations are required to assess the performance of both regular and adjunct faculty and to improve the academic quality of the Program. Evaluations will be provided to the faculty member and to the PHP major chair, who may share them with executive faculty or other responsible parties.

Voluntary evaluations of tenured faculty will not be included in the Official Personnel File unless submitted by the faculty member with a written request for inclusion. All student evaluations of teaching shall be subject to the exclusions specified in 14.3. Faculty members who team-teach shall be evaluated individually on the same basis as a faculty member teaching a course individually.
Student Evaluation of Teaching. Student evaluations are done once per term to give instructors an idea of how they are being perceived by their students. Evaluations of part-time instructional faculty are conducted in an online format after the last day for students to withdraw from the course. Results of the student evaluations, including all comments, will be provided to faculty at the end of the term or after grades have been finalized by the registrar’s office for that course. The student evaluation criteria serve as a basis for evaluation, along with the administrative evaluator’s assessment of the presentation to the student during classroom visitation.
