Teacher Evaluation definition

Teacher Evaluation. All evaluations generated through Department Chair evaluations, peer evaluations, staff development/effective schools programs and/or program review of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools will be used only for improvement of teaching performance. If a teacher is given a letter of deficiency alleging a need to improve instructional performance, all evaluations gathered through such processes will be unavailable to all parties. The Association has the right to appoint its members to any committee which establishes and reviews teacher evaluation and mentoring procedures and forms.
Teacher Evaluation. The primary responsibility for the evaluation of teachers rests with principals. All evaluators will share with the principal information regarding the teacher's performance. Administrators shall be free to make informal visits to classrooms as they deem necessary to supervise the improvement of instruction, implementation of program, study of student behavior, and study of safety standards. Normally, no written or oral reason or report shall be required to be provided to the teacher except when the purpose is for formal teacher evaluation as required by the district’s negotiated APPR plan. Unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent, principals may delegate the process of evaluating a teacher to an assistant principal and/or work collaboratively with other administrators in the evaluation process.
