REDUCTION IN PERSONNEL, SENIORITY AND RECALL. 15.1 For purposes of this article, seniority shall be defined as the length of continuous teaching service as a member of the bargaining unit in the Wakefield-Marenisco School District, former Wakefield School District, or former Marenisco School District. Continuous service shall not be broken as a result of layoff, but seniority shall not accrue while a bargaining unit member is on layoff.

REDUCTION IN PERSONNEL, SENIORITY AND RECALL. A. Seniority shall be defined as the length of continuous service with the school district since the first actual workday of the teacher’s most recent teacher contract. Any teacher hired before October 1 shall be considered as having a start date the same as the first workday of the current contract. No teacher shall have a start date before the first workday of the current contract unless he was hired to teach in the district during the previous school year. (This does not include substitute teaching.) Periods of time spent on paid leaves of absence, leaves taken under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Long Term Disability (LTD), and military leaves shall not constitute a break in continuous service and seniority shall accrue during such periods. Periods of time spent on unpaid leaves up to and including one year shall not constitute a break in continuous service and seniority shall accrue during such periods. For purposes of this article only, service at 50% or more of the full teaching load shall count as if the service was at the full teaching load; service at less than 50% of the full teaching load shall count as ½ year of seniority.

It is not the philosophy of the Xxxxxx Board of Education and the Xxxxxx Education Association to "reduce the teaching staff" when our aims and objectives are committed to providing the best possible education program for the students in this community.   • Classification Seniority Classification Seniority" is defined as the length of service in a specific job classification within the bargaining unit, beginning with the date an employee starts to serve a probationary appointment. Classification Seniority shall be interrupted only by separation because of resignation, discharge for just cause, failure to return upon expiration of a leave of absence, failure to respond to a recall from layoff, or retirement.

  • Super Seniority In the event of a layoff, the Plant Chairperson, Committeepersons and Stewards shall have super seniority.

  • Departmental Seniority Departmental seniority is defined as the length of employment within the employee’s current department. Department seniority shall accrue as of the first day of employment or transfer into a new department.

  • SENIORITY AND LAYOFFS 11.01 Seniority of employees shall be recognized within their respective trade and job classifications. New employees shall be placed on the seniority list upon the completion of their probationary period and their respective seniority shall be dated back to the date of their most recent hiring.

  • Loss of Seniority An employee shall lose all seniority and service and shall be deemed to have terminated if he:

  • Transfers and Seniority Outside Bargaining Unit No employee shall be transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit without the employee's consent. If an employee is transferred to a position outside of the bargaining unit, the employee shall retain seniority acquired at the date of leaving the unit, but will not accumulate any further seniority. If such an employee later returns to the bargaining unit, the employee shall be placed in a job consistent with the employee's seniority. Such return shall not result in the layoff or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority.
