Personal Reasons Leave. Bargaining unit members shall be granted up to six (6) days leave each school year for personal reasons. However, such absences for personal reasons shall be charged only to accrued sick leave, and leave for personal reasons shall be noncumulative. Unit members shall not be required to give reasons for personal reasons leave, except that the leave is for "personal reasons."
Personal Reasons Leave. Employees shall be granted up to six (6) days in each fiscal year for personal reasons. When used, these days shall be charged to available sick leave. Leave for personal reasons shall not be cumulative. Employees shall not be required to give reasons for these days, except that the leave is for “personal reasons”. Such leave must be requested in writing twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the day the employee wishes to take off, except in unusual circumstances.
Personal Reasons Leave. If a member of the unit with a five-hour or more daily assignment finds it necessary to be absent for personal reasons, he/she may secure time off by applying to the immediate supervisor if he/she desires to be absent for a period of time of three (3) hours or less. Such leave is without loss of salary and is granted only when a valid reason for the absence exists. The reason for the leave must be based upon unavoidable personal reasons which cannot be scheduled during non-duty hours. Frequent requests for such absences are to be avoided. Such leave may be approved only when the supervisor is certain the unit member's duty assignment can be adequately covered without the employment of a substitute.

Notification of intent to use personal reasons leave shall be submitted to the Food and Nutrition Services Director/Designee no later than forty- eight (48) hours prior to the day the employee wishes to have off except for an emergency as determined by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services. Personal reasons leave shall not be granted on the day preceding or following a holiday, nor during the first or last week of school. This may only be waived by mutual agreement between the affected employee and the Food and Nutrition Services Director or designee. Personal Reasons leave in excess of three (3) consecutive work days shall not be granted unless approved by the Food and Nutrition Services Director/Designee. Written requests to use personal reasons leave the day preceding or following a holiday or scheduled day off shall be submitted a minimum of seven (7) workdays in advance of the date requested.

Employees may apply for and be granted a leave of absence without pay for such reasons as vacations, continuation of absence not covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, or other matters not specifically covered by the Agreement. Employees shall give four (4) weeks’ written notice of their request for such leave of absence, except in cases of emergency. All such Personal Reasons Leaves of Absence require specific approval and shall not exceed twelve (12) months in duration from the last day worked.

Personal Reasons Leave. A. Eligibility. Bargaining unit members are permitted to be absent not to exceed four (4) days annually for personal reasons. Personal reasons leave will be charged to the member’s accrued sick leave and will not accumulate from year to year.
