Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML. Employees shall be eligible to receive Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) under the Washington State Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act. Eligibility for this leave will be based on the provisions contained in the Act (RCW 50A.15.010) The District shall use the state insurance as the carrier for PFML to ensure ongoing compliance with the law.

Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML. Program‌ The Washington State Family and Medical Leave Program offers faculty the opportunity to receive partial wage replacement while on leave for qualifying family and/or medical events after establishing eligibility. This program and its eligibility criteria are managed by Washington’s Employment Security Department (ESD). For faculty work covered by the current collective bargaining agreement, the College shall pay both the employer and employee portions of the premium under Washington state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Program (RCW 50A.04).

Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML. Employees will be provided Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) benefits as allowed by law. The District and employee shall pay the premiums in accordance with the default apportionment in state law. The District will annually notify employees about the eligibility, benefits and uses available under PFML. Employees may use accumulated sick leave to supplement PFML benefits up to an amount that results in no loss of compensation to the employee if and when the Employment Security Department provides the District with the information necessary to calculate such benefits. On a trial basis for 2020-21, the District will allow supplementation of PFML benefits with accumulated sick leave based on information provided by employees. This trial will be reviewed at the end of the 2020- 21 school year and continued if mutually-agreed by the parties.
