Local President. Section 3. The Employer and the Union have established a single bargaining unit made up of employees at the universities/college designated in Article 1 –
Local President. The Hospital will pay full salary to the Local President for three (3) days per week it being understood and agreed that the Local President will conduct all regular union business with the Hospital during those three (3) days. Regular union business excludes such things as arbitration, union conventions, and labour board. This does preclude the Local President from taking Union Leave of absence on any other day. The Vice-Presidents and the Chief Stewards from the Toronto General Hospital and the Toronto Western Hospital will be provided with one (1) Hospital paid union leave day per week (4 days in total) to conduct union business.
Local President. The Employer agrees that there also shall be one Union President for Local elected or appointed from within the bargaining unit. The Union will notify the Employer in writing of the appointment of the Local Union President.
Local President. The Local Union President may be present for the entire hearing if operational needs permit. If operational needs preclude the Local Union President's attendance, a designee shall be permitted to attend the arbitration hearing.

Local President. The Senior Manager of Human Resources shall convene a meeting with appropriate Board and/or Union personnel to clarify and discuss the details of the policy grievance. In the event that the dispute is not settled through this informal discussion, Stage Two shall be invoked. The Senior Manager of Employee Relations/Legal Counsel shall notify the Union of the time and place at which a meeting will be called for the grievance committee, the national C.U.P.E. Representative, the Senior Manager of Human Resources and the Senior Manager of Employee Relations/Legal Counsel to discuss, consider and attempt to resolve the policy grievance. A response (by the Union or the Board) will be provided within fifteen (15) working days of the Stage Two meeting.

In the event that a member of the Union is elected Local President and the employee so elected does not occupy a position with regular day hours, the Health Centre will co-operate with the Union to see that the employee is placed in a position with comparable hours, where the regular hours of work would fall during the normal day shift hours (e.g. a.m. to It is agreed that for the duration of office, the parties agree to work together so that the Local President is able to work in a position where the regular hours of work fall during the normal day shift hours. The parties agree to meet within two weeks of receiving notification from the Union of the election of the Local President with a view to meeting the above commitment. The parties will review vacant bargaining unit day shift positions for which the President elect is qualified based on satisfying the minimum level of ability, experience and qualifications for the vacant position. The Union agrees to waive the normal posting provisions to accomplish such placement of the President elect. Where there are no suitable vacancies available: The parties will endeavour to identify a bargaining unit position currentlyheld by an employee with lesser bargaining unit senioritywhose work the Local President can Where the parties agree that the less senior employee could perform that work currentlyperformed by the President elect the less senior employee would be transferred to the position held by the President elect and the President elect would be transferred to the position previously held by the less senior employee. For the purpose of identifying the position, in the same grade level, occupied by a less senior employee referenced above, it is understood that the parties will first look within the in which the Local President currentlyworks. If a position occupied by a less senior employee is not found the parties will look outside of the in which the Local President works. The transfer of the less senior employee would not constitute or invoke the normal layoff provisions of the collective agreement. It is agreed that the Union would hold the Health Centre harmless from any and all complaints or grievances flowing from such transfer of the President elect or other employees resulting from this agreement.
