Experience and Qualifications. Teachers engaged by this Board will be credited to the maximum with qualified teaching experience. Teachers will be required to produce certificates from previous School Authorities, approved by the Board, verifying experience. Previous experience to the maximum will be credited in each level, provided the teacher can produce verification of the years of accumulated experience. Each year of experience for salary purposes must, when not a complete teaching year, be composed of fractions which total months or days. However, if there should be a remainder of at least 9 months or days, this experience will be considered as 1 year and qualify the teacher to receive the increment for experience provided in the schedule. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to submit evidence of additional qualifications to the Human Resources Department for category placement. The Human Resources Department shall provide written acknowledgment of the receipt of such evidence of additional qualifications. Experience shall be credited on September 1 and January 1 of each school year. September and January would be as periods of grace for teachers to submit proof of experience obtained to June and December respectively in any year. Exceptions to this regulation will only be considered upon written application to the Director of Education.
