LOCAL LETTERS OF UNDERSTANDING. RE: The parties agree that in certain circumstances, a part-time employee can be reclassified as a full time employee, based on the Employee’s scheduled hours of work. In order to provide for such a change, and solely for that purpose, a part time employee is one normally scheduled to work hours, or less, per pay period, and a full time employee is one regularly scheduled to work more than hours per pay period. If a part time employee is regularly scheduled to work more than hours per bi- weekly pay period, after scheduled hours which replace other absent employees are subtracted from the total, and that continues for seven (7) consecutive pay periods, the part time employee will be reclassified as a full time employee. To accomplish the reclassification, and at the end of the seven (7) consecutive pay periods: The Employer will give the Employee and the Union notice of the reclassification. The Employer will thereafter deduct and remit union dues in accordance with the dues formula for full time employees. The Employee will be transferred from the part time seniority list to the full time seniority list, with an appropriate conversion of seniority, and will be so shown on the next published seniority list. The Employee will thereafter be considered a full time employee for the purpose of considering their application to a full time or part time posting. The Employee will thereafter progress through the wage grid based on the criteria for full time employees. The foregoing list is not comprehensive. Any other aspects of the agreement, or any letter of agreement between the parties, and which reflects a difference between full time and part time status applies. If an employee who has become full time through the provisions of this sub- article, and is then scheduled for hours, or less, per pay period, and that continues for seven consecutive pay periods, the employee will be reclassified as a part time employee. RE: Article Certain dietary aides are regularly scheduled as relief cooks. Regularly scheduled, in this context, means the dietary aide is scheduled as a cook at least one shift per pay period, this has been ongoing for at least three months, and the aide is not replacing cook.
