Education and Training Leave. Section 1. Regular (non-probationary) employees may attend training seminars, workshops or conferences related to professional development, safety, personal growth and educational advancement without charging related time off against annual vacation leave and without losing any part of their salary for attendance within regularly scheduled working hours. Attendance must be approved in advance by the employee’s supervisor.
Education and Training Leave. 24.10 When the University, on the recommendation of the Department Head, requests in writing that an employee take a course or participate in some other form of job-related and/or health and safety related training activity (orientation, conference, seminar, workshop), the employee will be granted the necessary time off with pay and will be reimbursed by the University for the required fees and other approved costs. No employee shall suffer undue financial hardship as a result of the University’s reimbursement policy. The Department Head may authorize a request for a travel advance where appropriate. When an employee’s participation occurs on a normal day off work she/he will be granted equivalent time off on a straight time basis.

Education and Training Leave. 27.1 The Employer recognises that training and development of staff is essential to maintain a quality and efficient service. The Employer will fund or provide staff training or development, including granting of leave to complete qualifications, attend seminars and to undertake research projects which are relevant to the work of the Employer and which facilitates Employee growth and development. Service needs and priorities will be taken into account along with the availability of resources in the funding/provision of training. Access to the allowances set out in (26.2) must be made by individual Employees in accordance with the procedures for Education and Training leave and the application for Course Conference Leave (05.06.01.1-f02 Application for Course/Conference Leave) prescribed by the Employer.
Education and Training Leave. The Company will grant a leave of absence to a maximum of six (6) months without pay to employees for educational or training purposes provided that: -the employee has 1 year seniority with the Company; -the employee applies one month in advance; -the education or training leave is forest industry related; -the Company shall grant such leave where a bona fide reason is advanced by the applicant, or may postpone leave in the event a suitable replacement is not available; -leave is restricted to one (1) time in a two (2) year calendar period; -the Company will notify the Union Committee of its decision in respect to any application under this provision.

  • Education and Training The foundation of this Program is education and voluntary compliance. It is recognized that alcohol and chemical dependency may make voluntary cessation of use difficult, and one of the Program’s principal aims is to make voluntary steps toward ending substance abuse easily available. The outside contractor shall review and develop on-going educational and training information on the adverse consequences of substance abuse and the responsibility to avoid being under the influence of alcohol or chemicals at work. Certain training required by the DOT Regulations shall be the responsibility of the Substance Abuse Program.

  • Employment and Training Administration The ratio of trainees to journeymen on the job site shall not be greater than permitted under the plan approved by the Employment and Training Administration. Every trainee must be paid at not less than the rate specified in the approved program for the trainee's level of progress, expressed as a percentage of the journeyman hourly rate specified in the applicable wage determination. Trainees shall be paid fringe benefits in accordance with the provisions of the trainee program. If the trainee program does not mention fringe benefits, trainees shall be paid the full amount of fringe benefits listed on the wage determination unless the Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division determines that there is an apprenticeship program associated with the corresponding journeyman wage rate on the wage determination which provides for less than full fringe benefits for apprentices. Any employee listed on the payroll at a trainee rate who is not registered and participating in a training plan approved by the Employment and Training Administration shall be paid not less than the applicable wage rate on the wage determination for the classification of work actually performed. In addition, any trainee performing work on the job site in excess of the ratio permitted under the registered program shall be paid not less than the applicable wage rate on the wage determination for the work actually performed. In the event the Employment and Training Administration withdraws approval of a training program, the contractor will no longer be permitted to utilize trainees at less than the applicable predetermined rate for the work performed until an acceptable program is approved.

  • STUDENTS AND TRAINEES 1. Payments which a student, business apprentice or trainee who is or was immediately before visiting a Contracting State a resident of the other Contracting State and who is present in the first-mentioned State solely for the purpose of his education or training receives for the purpose of his maintenance, education or training shall not be taxed in that State, provided that such payments arise from sources outside that State.
