- UNION MEMBERSHIP, DUES AND FEES. Section 1: All present officers in the bargaining unit and all officers who are hired or transferred into the bargaining unit after the effective date of this Agreement can freely choose to become a member of the Association (to “join” the WMU-POA), or to not become a member of the Association (to “not join” the WMU-POA). Bargaining unit membership and Association membership are distinct. An officer covered by this collective bargaining agreement is always a bargaining unit member, but a bargaining unit member becomes an Association member only by election/choice. Officers who choose to become Association members will be required by the Association to pay Association dues and/or service fees which shall be in an amount determined by the Association not inconsistent with the law and not to exceed the amount of dues uniformly required of members. Such dues or service fees shall be remitted to the Association commencing within the first three (3) pay periods after the effective date of this Agreement or within the first three (3) pay periods after the officer's Association membership dues deduction authorization card is submitted, whichever is later.
- UNION MEMBERSHIP, DUES AND FEES. All employees covered under the terms of this Agreement may voluntarily join the labor organization that represents their position (the Union) as a member and receive all rights, privileges and benefits of Union membership. The County, including its directors, managers and supervisors, shall remain neutral on the issue of whether any bargaining unit employee should join the Union or otherwise participate in union activities. It will be a condition of employment that all employees covered by this Agreement who are members of the Union in good standing on the effective date of this Agreement will remain members in good standing and those who are not members on the effective date of this Agreement will on the thirtieth (30th) day following the effective date of this Agreement become and remain members in good standing in the Union or pay fees to the Union to the extent permitted by law. It will also be a condition of employment that all employees covered by this Agreement and hired or assigned into the bargaining unit on or after its effective date will on the thirtieth (30th) day following the beginning of such employment become and remain members in good standing in the Union or pay fees to the Union to the extent permitted by law. Provided, however, that nothing contained in this Section will require employees to join the Union who can substantiate, in accordance with existing law, bona fide religious tenets or beliefs that prohibit the payment of dues or initiation fees to Union organizations. Such employees will pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues and initiation fees to a non-religious charity or to another charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee and the Union. If the employee and the Union do not reach agreement on such matter, the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) shall designate the charitable organization. Employees will furnish proof to the Union each month that such payment has been made.

  • Union Membership Every employee who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union, as a condition of employment, provided that any employee in the appropriate bargaining unit, who is not required to maintain membership or apply for and maintain membership in the Union, shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by the members of the Union.

  • Membership Dues Deduction Any unit member who is a member of the Teachers 20 Association of Long Beach, CTA-NEA, or who has applied for membership, may 21 pay a lump sum cash payment to the Association or sign and deliver to the District 22 an assignment authorizing deduction of unified membership dues, initiation fees and 23 general assessments in the Association. Pursuant to such authorization, the District 24 shall deduct one-tenth (1/10) of such dues from the regular salary warrant of the unit 26 authorization after the commencement of the school year shall have deducted one- 28 periods.

  • Union Dues Deductions It shall be a condition of employment for all Nurses in the Bargaining Unit, that dues be deducted from their bi-weekly salary in the amount determined by the Union. The deductions for newly employed Nurses shall be in the first pay period of employment. The dues shall be submitted monthly to the Union together with a list of the Nurses from whom the deductions were made.
