Responsibility for Electronic Data. The Student is solely responsible for any non-FACS installed software and for any data stored on the Computer. It is the sole responsibility of the Student to backup such data as necessary to their network storage space (OneDrive). Students are always advised to have multiple backups of important documents.

Responsible Use of Technology Resources Lago Vista ISD students and all authorized users shall be responsible in their use of technology resources and are expected to: • Be ethical in their use of technology resources and respect the privacy and well-being of others; • Abstain from creating, retrieving, willfully receiving, or sending any offensive electronic information, including, but not limited to content of a sexual or racially offensive nature, derogatory language, or comments that are disrespectful or derogatory towards a person's age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, religious or political beliefs, national origin, ancestry, disability, or any characteristics protected by federal or Texas state law. • Protect password information and not share it with anyone other than a parent; • Abstain from attempts to gain access to another student's user account, a school employee's account, or any other account for which they are not authorized; and • Immediately report any behavior that violates the Lago Vista ISD Responsible Use Guidelines for Technology, the Lago Vista ISD Student & Parent iPad User Agreement, or the Lago Vista ISD Student iPad Pledge. Prohibited Use of Electronic Devices Lago Vista ISD students and all authorized users of Lago Vista ISD technology resources shall not: 🗶 Violate federal, state, or local law, including, but not limited to accessing or transmitting pornography of any kind, obscene materials, harmful materials that encourage others to violate the law, confidential information, or illegally transmitting copyrighted materials; 🗶 Engage in activities through technology resources that promote, encourage, or support the use of alcohol, tobacco, or any other controlled substance; 🗶 Knowingly bypass or circumvent any Internet or other security measures, including attempts to gain entry (or “hack”) into systems or access restricted material without authorization; 🗶 Damage computer equipment, files, data, or the network in any way, including but not limited to intentionally accessing, transmitting, or downloading computer viruses or other harmful files or programs and disrupting any computer system performance; 🗶 Use profane, abusive, or impolite language, including but not limited to defamatory, abusive, harassing, or threatening language toward another person ...

It is the sole responsibility of the Student to backup such data as necessary. The District provides a means for backup (District Google Drive or OneDrive) along with directions. It is a district owned device and will be wiped of all privately stored data frequently. -For the Chromebook the Student is solely responsible for any non-District installed software and for any data stored on the Computer. Although the District provides this service for the storage of Student data, the District does not accept responsibility for any such software.

The students are solely responsible for any apps or extensions on their Chromebooks that are not installed by a member of the Xxxxxxx County Schools technology staff. Students are responsible for backing up their data to protect from loss. Users of School Technology have no rights, ownership, or expectations of privacy to any data that is, or was, stored on the Chromebook, school network, or any school issued applications and they are given no guarantees that data will be retained or destroyed. The school will not be responsible to provide backup devices for students. Operating System, Updates and Virus Protection: Students may not use or install any operating system on their Chromebook other than the current version of Chrome OS that is supported and managed by the school. The Chromebook operating system, Chrome OS, updates itself automatically. Students do not need to manually update their Chromebooks. Chromebooks use the principle of “defense in depth” to provide multiple layers of protection against viruses and malware, including data encryption and verified boot. There is no need for additional virus protection. Content Filter: The school utilizes an Internet content filter that is in compliance with the federally mandated Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). All Chromebooks will have all Internet activity protected and monitored by the school while on or off campus. If an educationally valuable site is blocked, students should contact their teachers to request the site be unblocked.
