This Agreement remains in effect for the substitute District-issued Device. CUSTOMIZATION OF EQUIPMENT Student is permitted to customize the digital environment of the assigned District-issued Device to his/her own working styles (e.g., school appropriate wallpaper, favorites, background). Student is not permitted to install software or apps on the assigned District-issued Device. Student may not customize the exterior physical appearance (e.g., stickers, graffiti, or carving) of the District-issued Device. Student is not permitted to repair, alter, modify, or replace a District-issued Device without express written authorization from TJUHSD Assistant Superintendent of Technology or designee. STUDENT/PARENT FINANCIAL COMMITMENT A District-issued Device is provided to student through State, TJUHSD and Federal funds. Prior to checking out the District-issued Device, TJUHSD asks that each student provide a $25 lease fee (“Lease Fee”) each school year to assist in the maintenance of District-issued Device and TJUHSD online educational network. Student may request a waiver of the Lease Fee by filling out an application with the TJUHSD district office. If parent is unwilling to accept financial responsibility for the device, TJUHSD will take appropriate steps to ensure that student is provided access to educational material substantially similar to the material accessible through a District-issued Device. The District-issued Device will be presented to the school’s appointed designee at the end of each academic year for updates and routine maintenance. If student leaves his/her school before the end of the year, he/she must return the District-issued Device to the school’s appointed designee as part of the checkout process to release financial liability.

This agreement remains in effect for such a substitute. Return of Equipment Students who graduate, withdraw, are expelled, or terminate enrollment in Lago Vista ISD for any other reason must return the property on the date of the qualifying event. Graduating seniors must return their iPad, charger, and any other related District issued equipment no later than the last day of final exams. Any loss or damages beyond reasonable wear and tear must be paid for at that time, unless covered under Optional Accidental Damage and Theft Coverage. Students withdrawing from a Lago Vista ISD school must return their iPad, charger, and any other related District-issued equipment before withdrawing. Any loss or damages beyond reasonable wear and tear must be paid for at that time. Students who fail to return equipment and other related items assigned to the student are responsible for replacement. See Fee Schedule on Page 14. Responsibility for Equipment Texas Education Code section 31.104(d) places responsibility for the condition of textbooks, including technological equipment on a student or the student's parent or guardian. The student is responsible for maintaining a 100% working iPad and accessories at all times. The student shall use reasonable care to ensure that the iPad and accessories are not damaged. In the event of damage or theft, the student must follow the procedures outlined in this agreement. If the equipment is not returned to the District in "acceptable condition", the student will lose the right to free textbooks and technological equipment until the student or the student's parent or guardian pay for the damaged or unreturned items.

Please note that if the student forgets to bring the device or power adapter to school, or the device is damaged due to gross negligence, a substitute may not be provided. The student may NOT opt to utilize a personal device in lieu of a school issued device. Personal devices should not connect to our non-guest wifi and would not be able to print.
