Content Filter. The district utilizes an Internet content filter that is in compliance with the federally mandated Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). All Chromebooks, regardless of physical location (in or out of school), will have all Internet activity protected and monitored by the district. If a website is blocked in school, then it will be blocked out of school. If an educationally valuable site is blocked, students should contact their teachers to request the site be unblocked.

Woodmore Local Schools utilizes an Internet Content filter as well as a website blacklist in compliance with the federally mandated Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). Despite the filter, Woodmore Local Schools cannot absolutely guarantee that all controversial or inappropriate materials will be blocked. Students who intentionally access inappropriate sites will be disciplined according to district policy. Chromebooks will come with G Suites/Google Apps for Education. These apps include Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Drawings, and Forms. Students are not allowed to install inappropriate Chrome web apps and extensions from the Chrome Web Store. Inappropriate material will result in disciplinary action. Woodmore Local Schools makes no guarantee that the school network will be up and running 100% of the time. In the rare case, the network is down, students may not be penalized if a completed assignment cannot be accessed. Students have no expectation of confidentiality or privacy with respect to the usage or content of a Woodmore Local Schools-issued Chromebook, regardless of whether that use is for school-related or personal purposes. Woodmore Local Schools without prior notice or consent, may log, supervise, access, view, monitor, and/or record the use of student Chromebooks at school. Chromebooks are subject to confiscation at any time and without prior notice. By using a Chromebook, students agree to such access, monitoring, and recording of their use. Woodmore Local Schools will not engage in student surveillance activities that would violate a reasonable expectation of student privacy outside of school grounds. (i.e. Woodmore Local Schools will not view the webcam in a student bedroom).
