Gifted and Talented. Enrichment - In a society based on democratic principles, each person has the right to learn at the most appropriate level where growth will take place. Because gifted and/or talented students have special needs, they have been provided educational experiences that have met those needs in the regular classroom. The Harbor Method is a direct instruction method which requires teachers to teach above grade level and provides multiple opportunities for students to reach higher learning levels. Students are also encouraged to pursue challenges beyond the scope of the regular curriculum, including Hall of Fame, Famous I, Famous II, and Famous III, regardless of their areas of giftedness or talents. At the high school level, this is accomplished through, but not limited to, clustering, competitions, consultations, curriculum compacting, concurrent credit college courses, and career exploration. Gifted and Talented. The Academy will identify students possessing high-performing capabilities in specific academic, intellectual, leadership, creativity and visual/performing arts talent areas. The identification in each area will be by a variety of assessments outlined in The Best Practices Manual for Idaho Gifted/Talented Programs. Once identified, the Academy will implement a modification of curriculum to provide a challenging educational experience. English Learners (EL) The Academy will do the following for students who are English Learners (EL):
Gifted and Talented. The Academy’s accelerated curriculum and mission as they exist are perfectly suited to serving the needs of Gifted and Talented students. Special accommodations are made within the context of the individual classroom, allowing for teachers to challenge students according to their unique talents. The Academy will follow all rules and regulations addressing Gifted and Talented in Idaho code, 33-2001, 33-2003, and IDAPA 00.00.00.000. Dual Enrollment: According to Idaho Code 33-203(7), dual enrollment shall include the options of enrollment in a regular public school. Students from the Charter Academy shall be allowed to participate in dual enrollment options in the district of their residence provided that student meets eligibility requirements for that program, as specified in 33-203(7), Idaho Code. Opportunities for dual enrollment will be communicated to parents and students through ongoing group and individual conferences with the counseling staff, as well as daily announcements and monthly newsletters. It is the intent of the Academy to remain true to the mission statement and deliver the curriculum through highly skilled professional instructors. We will maintain a standard of academic excellence so that a diploma earned at the Academy has significant value. Therefore, classes taken through dual enrollment must meet the Academy standards for rigor and content, as determined by the Principal or his/her designee. Full-time Charter Academy students may take dual enrollment high school courses through another accredited high school during grades 9 through 12. In most cases, courses taken at another high school while the student is enrolled full time at the Academy, including summer school courses, will not be accepted to meet core graduation requirements and will earn only elective credit at the Charter Academy. At the principal’s discretion, the Academy may award credit for a core requirement if the class is needed to graduate and cannot be scheduled at the Academy. All dual enrollment high school courses must meet the following requirements:
Gifted and Talented. Should Charter Operator choose to conduct evaluations and provide related services for gifted and/or talented students, it shall do so in accordance with all applicable state law and regulations.
Gifted and Talented. Program KBA will provide for special instructional needs of gifted and talented students enrolled in KBA in accordance with IC 33-2001. The Board designates the Principal to be responsible for the development, supervision and implementation of KBA’s gifted and talented program. Gifted and Talented. Teachers who wish to fill vacancies occurring in the District's programs for Gifted and Talented students shall apply through the transfer process. Teachers who are excessed or who are returning from a leave of absence of one (1) year or more do not have the automatic right to claim vacancies in the Gifted and Talented Program.
Gifted and Talented. In addition to their salary schedule compensation, the Gifted and Talented coordinators shall receive an annual stipend of five (5%) percent of salary for administrative services and an additional ten (10%) percent of salary for work performed on non-school days as scheduled by the coordinators and approved by their supervisor. To be entitled to the full ten (10%) percent, service must be performed on twenty (20) such additional days. If fewer than twenty (20) days of service are performed, the ten (10%) percent stipend shall be reduced by one-half (.5%) percent for each day less than twenty (20). It is the intent of the District to ensure that the full twenty (20) days of additional service shall be scheduled unless otherwise agreed to by the coordinators and their supervisor. The work year of the Gifted and Talented coordinators shall correspond to that of administrators during the ten-month period from September through June.

Gifted and Talented. YES Prep Northbrook will not offer gifted and talented programs at this time. Any SBISD students currently served in gifted and talented programs in SBISD who enroll in YES Prep Northbrook will furlough the gifted and talented services provided by SBISD. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Parties will discuss whether and how to make a gifted and talented program available to Program Students.
Gifted and Talented. YES Prep does not offer gifted and talented programs at this time. Any XISD students currently served in gifted and talented programs in XISD who enroll in YES Prep XMS or XHS will forgo the gifted and talented services provided by XISD.
