E LEAVE. It is mutually agreed that the Employer may grant leave of absence without pay for legitimate personal reasons and shall grant leave o f absence without pay for Union business, as hereinafter mentioned, to with one or more years of continuous service with the Employer. Leave of absence for personal reasons shall be applied for in writing by the employee to the Director of Personnel at least two weeks prior to the contemplated commencement o f the leave o f absence. The application shall clearly state the reason for the leave of absence and the contemplated length of time during which the employee will. be away from his work. It is understood that while an employee is on leave of absence he shall not engage in gainful employment and that if he does engage in such gainful employment he shall forfeit all seniority rights under this Agreement. Leave of absence for personal reasons shall not exceed a period of three months. Leave of absence for Union business shall be applied for in writing by the employee to the Director o f Personnel at least two weeks prior to the contemplated commencement of the leave of absence and the application shall clearly state the length of time he shall be away from his work and the purpose of the leave of absence. In interpreting this clause, legitimate leave of absence f o r Union business shall include conventions, seminars, educational programs or special executive board meetings. An employee shall be allowed to make application for leave o f absence for Union business only twice in any calendar year and the total of such leave of absence shall not be for longer than a two week period. Not more than four employees shall be eligible for leave of absence for Union business at one time and of any such four employees not more than two thereof shall be from any one department of the Employer. During leave o f absence, except as otherwise specified in this Article, the only right which shall accumulate for an employee is that of seniority. The decision of the Employer in granting or refusing applications for leave of absence for reasons shall not be to procedure. E LEAVE. 16. Annual Leave and Payment on Termination

  • FMLA Leave FMLA leave may be used for:

  • Xxxx Leave For laid off employees, sick leave accruals shall remain on the books and be reinstated if such employees are reappointed. Whenever a person becomes ineligible for reemployment and such person has not been re-employed, then, if at the point of layoff such person was eligible to receive a sick leave accrual payoff, such person shall be paid for existing sick leave accruals in accordance with Section 1408 of this Agreement.

  • Special Leave (a) Where leave from work is required, an employee shall be entitled to special leave at their regular rate of pay for the following:

  • Xxxxx’s leave (1) An employee is entitled to use up to 10 days accrued personal leave each year to care for a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household who is ill and requires his or her care. The employee is not entitled to take xxxxx’s leave for a particular period if another person has taken leave to care for the person for the same period.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.

  • Special Leaves An employee who is on an approved FMLA leave or on a Voluntary Reduction in Hours as provided elsewhere in this Agreement maintains eligibility for an Employer Contribution.

  • Casual Leave (a) Employees may be granted casual leave with pay to a maximum of two (2) hours for the following purposes:

  • Maternity Leave (a) An employee is entitled to maternity leave of up to 17 weeks without pay.

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.

  • Vacations; Leave The Employee shall be entitled to annual paid vacation in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors for executive employees and to voluntary leave of absence, with or without pay, from time to time at such times and upon such conditions as the Board of Directors may determine in its discretion.
