Use of Volunteers. The parties agree that volunteers provide a valuable resource to the County. Use of volunteers is to supplement and assist paid staff, not to replace, supervise or manage them.

Use of Volunteers. The District agrees to follow the existing side letters of agreement and established past practices regarding the use of volunteers. It is agreed that such practices include a provision that volunteer activities shall be approved in advance by the District and shall also provide for the inclusion of the appropriate Local One personnel to coordinate any such activities. Local One agrees to provide copies of all side letter agreements and memorandums of understanding to the District regarding this issue to insure proper compliance with established past practices.
Use of Volunteers. The parties agree that volunteers are not a substitute for additional secretarial staff in the office or for the replacement of secretarial staff in the case of absence. If volunteers are to assist in the school office, it is inappropriate for them to have access to the Ontario Student Records (OSR) cards, xxxxx cash, and confidential information covered by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The Principal, in consultation with the school secretary, will review the list of acceptable tasks to be assigned to the volunteer. Acceptable tasks shall include, but not limited to: - supporting the organization of in-school fund-raising events - safe arrival checks If volunteers are answering the school telephone, it is essential that the person identifies to the caller that a volunteer is answering the phone. Where there is a concern over the volunteer’s activities that may impact on bargaining unit work, the President will contact the Executive Officer, Human Resources. The Executive Officer, Human Resources will convene a meeting with representatives from the work site and appropriate administrative staff in order to attempt to alleviate the concern.
