Personal Leave (Paid. All members of the bargaining unit shall be credited with three (3) days of paid Personal Leave per year. Personal Leave not utilized in a school year shall be cumulative from year to year. Members may utilize a maximum of five (5) days in any one year. Under unusual circumstances, the Superintendent may, at his/her discretion, grant additional personal leave days if the member requesting the additional days has additional credited personal days. If Personal Days are not used during a school year, the employee has the option of carrying over the Personal Days, converting the Personal Day to sick leave as needed, or converting to sick leave for purposes of retirement computation. (See V. H.) The District will notify members of the bargaining unit of their used and accumulated personal days on an annual basis. Personal Leave shall be granted to not more than five (5%) percent (or a minimum of three members) of the faculty within the building on any one day. Requests shall be approved in the order in which they are submitted to the respective principals. Notification of intent to take Personal Leave shall be submitted one (1) week in advance, except for emergency situations when this time limit may be waived at the discretion of the Superintendent. If a teacher must use a personal day for an emergency reason over which he/she has no control, the teacher will be required to present the reason in writing. Four (4) personal days shall be unrestricted. Each employee’s remaining days can only be used for responsibilities that cannot be assumed during the employee’s off-work time. An employee shall not be required nor requested to give reasons for the use of such leave, except when consecutive personal days are requested. Any personal leave days unused at the end of the year shall be converted to sick leave at a rate of one (1) personal leave day for one (1) additional sick leave day. An employee who starts work in mid-year will be given personal days on a pro- rated basis by the quarter of a year.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

The employer and the employee shall agree on the period.
