Professional Leave. Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

Professional Leave. Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part- time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations: i) No more than one (1) employee may be absent at one time; ii) Employees must provide at least thirty (30) calendar days notice in writing; iii) Provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home.
Professional Leave. An employee may be granted paid leave for the purposes of attending conferences, seminars, or training sessions related to improvement of the performance of duties upon the advance approval of the Superintendent's designee.
Professional Leave. Professional leave may be granted for the purpose of visiting other schools, attending to school business or rendering professional services and for attendance at professional meetings as approved by the Superintendent. Professional Leave. At the beginning of every school year, the Board shall credit three hundred fifty (350) days to be used by the teachers for the purpose of attending professional meetings, with up to 75 of such days to be used for in-service. Professional meetings include education conferences and workshops, United Teaching Professional meetings, and meetings of other professional groups. Leave for district-sponsored student activities or leave required by the School District through its administrators shall not be classified as professional leave and, therefore, shall not be included in the total credited days. The Association shall appoint one person from each level (elementary, middle, and high school) to serve on a committee with one individual appointed by the Administration, who will establish guidelines for professional leave grants. An Association representative and the Administrative representative will Co-Chair the committee. No more than ten (10) percent of any building staff will be granted professional leave on the same day unless the building principal determines that it would not be a detriment to the educational program of the District. No individual staff member may be granted more than six professional leave days during any school year unless the building principal determines that it would not be a detriment to the educational program of the District. If a representative of the Association needs to attend a regularly scheduled or specially called meeting dealing with Association business, the District shall allow that representative to leave school five (5) minutes after student dismissal to attend the meeting. The amount of time that the representative is released prior to the end of the normal workday will be deducted from the time allowed for Professional Leave at the rate of eight (8) hours equaling one (1) day. If the representative has an assigned duty when an Association meeting is called, the representative will be responsible for securing a qualified replacement. Once professional leave is granted by the Association, the applicant shall receive full salary from the District. Professional leave requests approved by the Association shall be communicated to the supervisor or principal of the appropriate school at least five (5) school days prior to the day the professional leave is to commence. Professional Leave a. Upon the written approval of the Superintendent, Bargaining Unit Members may be granted paid professional leave to attend meetings, conferences, or related activities that can enhance the unit member’s professional abilities and/or benefit the District. Request for such leave shall be made in advance and submitted to the Superintendent using the leave reporting procedures. Request for such leave shall be made at least five (5) days in advance. The unit member shall indicate in the request those expenses for which he/she wishes to be reimbursed. b. An employee whose leave has been approved shall request direct payment for professional development expenses through the district’s requisition process or, upon his or her return, submit a written request for reimbursement of necessary and actual expenses. Requests for reimbursement shall be accompanied by receipts. Reimbursement shall be made in accordance with the following: Transportation by common carrier Actual cost of ticket. Meals A reasonable cost not to exceed $50 per day, actual cost shown on receipt. No reimbursement will be made for meals unless overnight stay is normally involved for Tolles employees attending a multiple day conference/meeting or the cost of said meals are included in the registration fee. Reimbursed meals shall include only those that need to be eaten “on the road” because of the travel. Lodging Actual cost as shown on receipt. The district will only pay for or reimburse teachers for lodging if the required event is more than 50 miles away from Tolles. Registration Actual cost as shown on receipt. Mileage IRS approved rate or $0.60 (sixty cents) per mile, whichever is less, calculated from assigned work location or home to destination and return whichever is less. Parking Actual fees as shown on receipt. Miscellaneous Actual cost of local transportation, parking, telephone, etc., as shown on receipts. c. The Superintendent will assign a substitute teacher, as needed, taking safety and educational consistency into consideration, to cover the classes of unit members who have received approval for professional leave. For coverage purposes, no more than twenty-five (25) total students will be assigned to a lab, and no more than thirty (30) total students will be assigned to an academic classroom. d.
