Leave for Union Employment. An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the National, Provincial or Local Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for a maximum period of one (1) year. Such leave of absence shall be renewable for a further term upon request. If it is permissible under the pension and group life plan and any other welfare plans, the employee shall have the right to pay the full costs, including the hospital's share, during the period of such leave of absence.

Leave for Union Employment. The Company shall grant an employee a leave of absence for one (1) year to work in an official capacity for the local or international Union. This leave may be extended for one (1) additional year by mutual agreement between the Company and Union. There shall be a limit of one (1) person on such leave at one (1) time. The employee must request the leave in writing and the Union must approve it.
