INDEPENDENT STUDY POLICY. The Goethe International Charter School (“School”) Board of Trustees authorizes independent study as an optional alternative instructional strategy for students who will be absent from school for one or more days. Independent study entails a commitment by both the parent/guardian and the student. Independent study requests shall be made at least 48 hours in advance of absence so that teachers can prepare assignments. In case of independent study requests with less than 48 hours advance notice (e.g. sickness), teachers shall prepare materials as soon as possible, within 48 hours, from receipt of the signed independent study contract. The Executive Director or designee shall determine that the prospective independent study student understands and is prepared to meet the School’s requirements for independent study. The Executive Director or designee shall ensure that a written independent study agreement, as prescribed by law, exists for each participating student. (Education Code §51747) Each written agreement shall be signed, prior to the commencement of independent study, by the students and the student’s parent/guardian. To xxxxxx each student’s success in independent study, the Board of Trustees establishes the following maximum length of time that may elapse before an independent study assignment is due: • Work is due latest on the third school day following the student’s first day back in school. An independent study agreement is voidable if the completed work is not present with the student on the due date. The maximum length for independent study agreements is two weeks. If the student satisfactorily completes, and turns in by the due date, all independent study assignments, the Executive Director or designee may honor individual requests to extend the maximum length of an independent study agreement. Students who have accumulated a total of three weeks of independent study in a school year, will have all future independent study requests reviewed by the Executive Director or designee for approval. The duration of the independent study agreement shall include the beginning and ending dates for the student’s participation in independent study. No independent study agreement shall be valid for any period longer than one semester. The independent study by each student shall be coordinated and evaluated by a credentialed employee of the School. INDEPENDENT STUDY POLICY. XxXxxx Central High School will recognize credits toward graduation from independent study courses taken at XxXxxx Central High School or courses taken through an approved independent study program that meets the requirements of the State of South Dakota and the XxXxxx Central Board of Education. These courses must be for enrichment or for make up only. All courses must receive approval from the XxXxxx Central administration. and the local school board prior to enrolling in the course. An independent study course will not replace the regular curriculum set forth by the XxXxxx Central School Board. XxXxxx Central High School will allow students to take independent study courses taught by members of the XxXxxx Central Public School faculty under the following conditions:
INDEPENDENT STUDY POLICY. The Adult Education program will allow the use of an independent study when required to assist a student with the completion of the program degree requirements. An independent study is a way for a student to learn independently with the direction of a faculty who is a content expert in the student's approve area of desired exploration. An independent study is offered at the discretion of the College and must be approved by the Xxxx. Directed study courses are taken for credit and all regular tuition and fees will apply to courses taken in this format. INDEPENDENT STUDY POLICY. Independent study courses (ISCs) are for students with a deep interest in an academic topic not found in regular course offerings. ISCs should be carried out at an advanced level of study with the student having completed at least 30 credits, with at least a B average. ICSs are not to be used to solve schedule conflicts. Because the evaluating of ISCs is on a volunteer basis on the part of the faculty members, the granting of ISCs is limited by faculty availability as well as by the intrinsic merit of the proposal.

  • Independent Study Independent study is a program of independent study, research, and/or experience directly related to the duties described in the employee’s job description or related classification as determined by the Retraining and Study Committee, which promises professional values equivalent to that derived from formal study at a recognized educational institution.

  • Independent Review Contractor shall provide the Secretary of ADS/CIO an independent expert review of any Agency recommendation for any information technology activity when its total cost is $1,000,000.00 or greater or when CIO requires one. The State has identified two sub-categories for Independent Reviews, Standard and Complex. The State will identify in the SOW RFP the sub-category they are seeking. State shall not consider bids greater than the maximum value indicated below for this category. Standard Independent Review $25,000 Maximum Complex Independent Review $50,000 Maximum Per Vermont statute 3 V.S.A. 2222, The Secretary of Administration shall obtain independent expert review of any recommendation for any information technology initiated after July 1, 1996, as information technology activity is defined by subdivision (a) (10), when its total cost is $1,000,000 or greater or when required by the State Chief Information Officer. Documentation of this independent review shall be included when plans are submitted for review pursuant to subdivisions (a)(9) and (10) of this section. The independent review shall include: • An acquisition cost assessment • A technology architecture review • An implementation plan assessment • A cost analysis and model for benefit analysis • A procurement negotiation advisory services contract • An impact analysis on net operating costs for the agency carrying out the activity In addition, from time to time special reviews of the advisability and feasibility of certain types of IT strategies may be required. Following are Requirements and Capabilities for this Service: • Identify acquisition and lifecycle costs; • Assess wide area network (WAN) and/or local area network (LAN) impact; • Assess risks and/or review technical risk assessments of an IT project including security, data classification(s), subsystem designs, architectures, and computer systems in terms of their impact on costs, benefits, schedule and technical performance; • Assess, evaluate and critically review implementation plans, e.g.: • Adequacy of support for conversion and implementation activities • Adequacy of department and partner staff to provide Project Management • Adequacy of planned testing procedures • Acceptance/readiness of staff • Schedule soundness • Adequacy of training pre and post project • Assess proposed technical architecture to validate conformance to the State’s “strategic direction.” • Insure system use toolsets and strategies are consistent with State Chief Information Officer (CIO) policies, including security and digital records management; • Assess the architecture of the proposed hardware and software with regard to security and systems integration with other applications within the Department, and within the Agency, and existing or planned Enterprise Applications; • Perform cost and schedule risk assessments to support various alternatives to meet mission need, recommend alternative courses of action when one or more interdependent segment(s) or phase(s) experience a delay, and recommend opportunities for new technology insertions; • Assess the architecture of the proposed hardware and software with regard to the state of the art in this technology. • Assess a project’s backup/recovery strategy and the project’s disaster recovery plans for adequacy and conformance to State policy. • Evaluate the ability of a proposed solution to meet the needs for which the solution has been proposed, define the ability of the operational and user staff to integrate this solution into their work.

  • Independent Status The employees, volunteers, or agents of each party who are engaged in the performance of this Agreement will continue to be employees, volunteers, or agents of that party and will not for any purpose be employees, volunteers, or agents of the other party.

  • Professional Development Committee There shall be a Professional Development Committee composed of at least two (2) representatives of the Association and an equal number of representatives from the Hospital. Each party may have alternates to replace a member from time to time.

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members.

  • Professional Development Plan Professional Development Plan (PDP) refers to plans developed by faculty members addressing the criteria contained in Article 22 and Appendix G.

  • Local Professional Development Committee 1. The Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) shall be established to oversee and review professional development plans pursuant to ORC 3319.22.

  • Hospital-Association Committee (a) There shall be a Hospital-Association Committee comprised of representatives of the Hospital, one of whom shall be the Chief Nursing Officer or designate and of the Association, one of whom shall be the Bargaining Unit President or designate. The number of representatives is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions and the membership of the Committee may be expanded by mutual agreement.

  • Independent Efforts A work made in the course of independent efforts is the property of the employee, who has the right to determine the disposition of such work and the revenue derived from such work. As used in this Policy, the term "independent efforts" means that:

  • Training Committee The parties to this Agreement may form a Training Committee. The Training Committee will be constituted by equal numbers of Employer nominees and ETU employee representatives and have a charter which clearly states its role and responsibilities. It shall monitor the clauses of this Agreement which relate to training and ensure all employees have equal access to training.
