Independent Study Course Clause Samples
The Independent Study Course clause defines the terms under which a student may undertake coursework outside the traditional classroom setting, typically under the supervision of a faculty member. This clause outlines eligibility requirements, the process for proposing and approving an independent study, and expectations for deliverables such as research papers or projects. Its core function is to provide flexibility in the curriculum, allowing students to pursue specialized topics or research interests not covered by standard course offerings.
Independent Study Course. For independent study assignments, a faculty member shall receive the equivalent of two overload points per student, up to a maximum of 15 students, after which the 30 point maximum will be applicable without regard to the number of students. If a course combines a lecture and laboratory section or a course combines a lecture and clinical section, the portion devoted to lecture will receive the lecture points, and the remaining portion will receive the laboratory points or clinical points.
Independent Study Course. An independent study course section is one that has a college course prefix and number, utilizes a delivery method designed for one-on-one instruction, is an HCC established course, and complies with that course's approved description and objectives.

PSAV: Career credit is the type of credit assigned to courses or course equivalent learning that is 1310 part of an organized and specified program leading to a career certificate. It applies to 1311 postsecondary adult career courses. One (1) career credit is based on the learning expected 1312 from the equivalent of thirty (30) hours of instruction. 1313 K. Combination: A course which combines lecture with either laboratory or clinical activities
Independent Study Course. Faculty will receive .3 credit
Independent Study Course. This category addresses when a student requires a particular undergraduate or graduate course for degree completion that cannot be substituted by another course or when there are an insufficient number of students to offer a section or an additional section, a faculty member may volunteer to teach the required course material for one to a maximum of three students.
