DEDUCTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL DUES. A. The Association will provide the College with the authorized amount of the appropriate membership fees to be deducted from an adjunct faculty member’s paycheck. The Association will indemnify the College for any liability or damages incurred by the Board as a result of implementing payroll deductions in accordance with statute from claims arising from unit members employed by the Board.

The Comptroller of the County of Suffolk shall deduct from the salaries of the faculty members dues or agency fees as said faculty members individually and voluntarily authorize the deductions in writing for the Association, and shall transmit all such monies to the Association.

Each teacher shall, as a condition of employment, on or before thirty (30) days from the date of commencement of duties or the effective date of this Agreement, whichever is later, join the Association or pay a service fee to the Association equivalent to the amount of dues uniformly required of the members of the Association, less any amounts not permitted by law. The teacher may authorize payroll deduction for such fee. In the event the teacher shall not pay such Service Fee directly to the Association or authorize payment through payroll deduction, the employer shall, pursuant to MCLA 408.477; MSA 17.277(7) and at the request of the Association, deduct the service fee from the teacher wages and remit same to the Association under the procedure provided below:
DEDUCTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL DUES. So long as the Association is the unit’s exclusive representative, the District shall cause to be deducted from the semi-monthly check of unit members who submit dues check-off authorization in writing to the District or its designated representative(s) for Association dues, in an amount to be determined by the Association in accordance with a written memorandum thereof to be filed by it with the District. The Association shall be permitted to make dues check-off authorization available through the schools. Any unit member may rescind and revoke their authorization by written notice to the Association and the Superintendent of Schools.

Within thirty (30) days of the beginning of their employment, teachers may sign and deliver to the Board the official Michigan Education Association/National Education Association form authorizing deduction of Political Action Committee contributions, membership dues, and/or assessments of the Association. Teachers beginning employment for the Athens Area Schools in September may sign and deliver, prior to the last paycheck in October, to the bookkeeper's office an assessment authorizing deduction of membership dues and assess- ments of the Association (including the National Education Association and the Michigan Education Association). Such authorization shall continue in effect unless subsequent to June 1st and prior to September 15th of any year, such authorization is formally revoked by the teacher in writing and copies thereof are delivered to the Association and the Board.
DEDUCTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL DUES. A. CESPA employees shall within thirty (30) days of employment, sign and deliver to the Business office an assignment authorizing deduction of membership dues of the Association or pay a legally permissible service fee in accordance with Section B of this Article.
