SICK LEAVE INCOME. Accrued, unused sick leave shall be forfeited at the time of separation or termination of employment, unless an officer has accumulated a minimum of 720 hours of unused sick leave, has or will have as of the effective date of retirement at least 20 years of service, has given the Village irrevocable written notice to retire at least ninety (90) days prior to the effective date of the effective date of retirement, and has an approved pension from the Village of Schaumburg Police Pension Fund, the employee shall upon retirement be paid for thirty-three and one-third percent (33 1/3%) of all accrued sick leave hours at their regular salary. In the event of the death of an active employee who has accumulated at least 720 hours of unused sick leave and who has at least 20 years of service as of the date of death, a lump sum payout for thirty-three and one- third percent (33 1/3%) of all accrued hours will be paid to the employee’s estate. An employee who meets all these eligibility requirements shall upon retirement be paid for 50% of all accrued hours. In the event of the death of an active employee who has accumulated the required minimum number of hours of unused sick leave and who has at least 25 years of service as of the date of death, a lump sum payout for fifty percent (50%) of all accrued hours will be paid to the employee’s estate. Notwithstanding the foregoing irrevocable notice provisions, the Village Manager may permit an employee to withdraw an irrevocable notice to retire based on substantially changed circumstances arising after the employee submitted his/her irrevocable notice to retire. Moreover, the 90 day notice period as specified above may be reduced upon request by the employee with review and recommendation from the Chief of Police, if the Village Manager determines it to be in the best interest of the Village.   • Sick Leave Incentive Effective September 1, 1986, employees covered by this Agreement, hired on or after October 1, 1977, who are not entitled to disability leave under State Statute R.C.W. 41.26, shall be eligible for the following sick leave incentive program:

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Sick Leave Payout No cash payment for unused sick leave will be paid to any employee leaving the service of the Employer.

  • Sick Leave Charges An employee using sick leave shall be charged for only the number of hours that the employee was scheduled to work during the period of sick leave. Holidays that occur during sick leave periods shall be paid as a holiday and not charged as a sick leave day.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Sick Leaves a. After the first year of full-time employment, a full-time faculty member who, by reason of personal illness or a medically certified disability is incapable of performing the regular duties of a faculty member, shall be entitled to a sick leave, with full pay (in lieu of contract salary which otherwise would be earned), for a period not to exceed six months. In no event, however, shall the University’s payment for sick leave exceed one-half (1/2) of the faculty member’s then prevailing annual contract salary. If the faculty member receives governmental disability benefits and/or workers’ compensation benefits during the period of absence, the faculty member shall be paid the difference between the benefits received and the benefits provided above.

  • Sick Leave Pool a. The Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security to supplement other insurance benefits by allowing employees to "buy" insurance for extended illness, or other disability. Pool Days may be used to "make an employee whole" if disability or Workers' Compensation benefits are less than normal base pay. When "buying" Pool Days, employees convert Earned Time days on a 1:3 basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability.

  • Sick Leave Accrual Full-time employees will accrue eight (8) hours of sick leave in a calendar month. Part- time employees will accrue sick leave credit on the same proportional basis that their employment schedule bears to a full-time schedule, up to a maximum of eight (8) hours in a calendar month.

  • Sick Leave Days Subject to paragraphs d) i-vi below, permanent full-time Teachers will be allocated eleven (11) sick days at one hundred percent (100%) salary in each school year. Teachers who are less than full-time shall have their sick leave allocation pro-rated.
