Education Incentive. The County will reimburse each employee for the cost of registration and books for job-related class work which is part of the requirement for completion of a major for an Associates or Bachelor college degree which is directly related to the employee’s current County employment or if not in pursuit of a degree, classes directly related to the employee’s current County employment, provided all of the following conditions are met:

The term accredited shall mean any accrediting entity that is recognized by the Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and degrees obtained outside the U.S. if the applicant submits an original, certified, sealed report from an academic credential agency recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services, the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc., or the International Academic Credential Evaluators, Inc.

Education Incentive. Management will pay an education incentive bonus to those Employees who have earned a degree from an accredited college in accordance with the scale provided below: Amount Degree $300 Associate’s Degree $650 Bachelor’s Degree $1000 Post Graduate Degree The incentive pay bonuses shall be paid in the first pay period in November on an annual basis. The Employee shall submit proof of an earned degree if not already on file. Employees will receive the annual incentive for degrees obtained prior to their employment by the City. The incentive will only be paid to employees earning a degree after their hire by the City where the degree earned is in a field of study related to the employee’s bargaining unit work, as determined by the Chief. Upon earning a qualifying degree after their hire date, and in addition to the annual education incentive payment, the Employee shall receive a one-time lump sum payment of the corresponding annual incentive. This paragraph shall in no way apply to Section 19.05 (Tuition Reimbursement) of this Agreement.
