School Conference and Activity Leave. An employee shall be granted up to sixteen (16) hours of unpaid leave per fiscal year to attend school conferences or activities related to the employee's child, provided the conferences or classroom activities cannot be scheduled during non work hours. When the leave cannot be scheduled during non-work hours and the need for the leave is foreseeable, the employee must provide reasonable prior notice of the request for leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt the operations of the Employer. If the employee has vacation or compensatory time off available to use, the employee may use the time for that purpose.

School Conference and Activity Leave. The District shall grant an employee an unpaid leave of up to a total of sixteen (16) hours during any 12-month period to attend school conferences or school related activities related to the employee’s child(ren) who are under 18 years of age or under age 20 who still attend secondary school, provided the conferences or school-related activities cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. The Educational Support Professional may use accrued vacation. When the leave cannot be scheduled during non-work hours and the need for the leave is foreseeable, the employee must provide reasonable prior notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt the operation of the school. This Subd. is in accord with M.S. 181.9412, School Conference and Activities Leave.

The employer must grant an employee leave of up to a total of eight (8) hours during any school year in increments of no less than one (1) hour, no more than four (4) hours of which may be taken on any given day, to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee's child. In the event of a conflict between the terms of this section and any subsequent amendment by the Act, the subsequently amended Act shall prevail. ARTICLEX Leaves of Absence

School Conference and Activity Leave. Employees must first use all accrued vacation leave and personal leave except sick leave to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee’s child if the conference or activity cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. The employee will be entitled to use eight (8) hours during any school year, no more than four (4) of which may be taken on any given day. Employees who have exhausted all vacation and personal leave may make up the time without overtime considerations.
