Officers who work on a core holiday (New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day) shall be paid at two (2) times their regular rate of pay for each hour worked (except overtime), but shall not receive another day off. Any overtime performed by an employee on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with the employee's regular overtime rate (i.e., no pyramiding). If the officer works on any of the remaining holidays, the officer may elect to receive one and one-half (1.5) times the officer's base rate of pay plus one-half (1/2) of the number of hours in the officer's normal daily work schedule in annual leave or to receive straight time for hours worked plus compensatory leave at the straight time rate for hours worked plus annual leave for one-half (1/2) of the number of hours worked. If the holiday falls on the officer's normally scheduled day off, the officer will not receive an extra day's pay, but the officer may elect another day off or one-half (1/2) the number of hours in the officer's normal daily work schedule in annual leave.
