Deceased Employees. The employer may approve a cash payment equivalent to the two lots of two weeks' salary to the widow, widower or if no surviving spouse exists, to dependent child(ren) or to the estate, of a deceased employee who had qualified for long service leave but who had neither taken nor forfeited it under these rules. This payment will be in addition to any grant made under the Retirement Gratuity Provisions specified in this Agreement.

Deceased Employees. In the event an employee who is entitled to a vacation dies before taking that vacation, the person designated as beneficiary of his/her group Life Insurance shall be entitled to the vacation pay in the manner permitted by law.

Deceased Employees. In the event of death, the District will pay the employee’s beneficiary (with a certified copy of the death certificate and notarized statement of beneficiary), forty ($40) dollars for each day of unused sick leave the employee has accrued capped at 170 days. All claims from beneficiaries of unused sick leave must be made within 4 months of the employee’s death. Payment will be delivered within 30 days from the date that the beneficiary produces the required evidence (certified copy of the death certificate and notarized statement of beneficiary). Persons dismissed for disciplinary reasons or employees terminated, voluntarily or involuntarily, shall not be eligible for benefits under this section.
