– EXTRA DUTY SALARY. 26.01 If requested by the Superintendent and the teacher agrees to work on projects scheduled beyond the regular work day or work year (excluding supplementals), the teacher will be compensated for time worked based on the BS-0 hourly rate for that year. Teachers shall fill out weekly time sheets for time worked. Payment shall be made in the regular pay in the pay period in which it was earned. This shall include after-school programs working with students as requested by the administration.

The Board shall annually determine the number of coaches or advisors for each activity. Head coaches will be granted applicable assistant coaching experience on the salary schedule. Teachers new to a position may be credited with extra duty experience as determined by the Superintendent. When there is a need for a new extra duty position, as determined by the administration, the Superintendent will recommend to the Board the creation of the position and appropriate category for salary purposes. The Superintendent will consult with the Association before determining the appropriate salary category. Extra duty positions are offered on a contingent basis. This means the Board has the right to not field a team, club or other pupil activity program; to not participate in any tournament or event; and to otherwise forego activities underlying an extra-duty position on a case- by-case basis. The Board retains the right to cancel any extra duty contract prior to the start of mandatory practices, or in the case of non-athletic pupil activity programs, prior to the first day of student participation. – EXTRA DUTY SALARY. Those unit members appointed by the Board to perform extra duty services shall receive supplemental pay, as per the appropriate salary schedule. Extra duty services include, but are not limited to, home teaching, curriculum development, certificated summer school teachers, Saturday school, some early retirement services and coaches. NVUSD teachers who receive hourly pay for services that sit outside of the Supplemental and Extra Duty Salary schedules shall be compensated at the highest rate on the Extended School Year/Summer School Salary Schedule.
