Entitlement to Vacation Leave With Pay. An employee is entitled to vacation leave with pay to the extent of the employee's earned credits but an employee who has completed six (6) months of continuous employment may receive an advance of credits equivalent to the anticipated credits for the vacation year. Scheduling of Vacation Leave With Pay Employees are expected to take all their vacation leave during the vacation year in which it is earned. The Employer shall, subject to the operational requirements of the service, make every reasonable effort to: schedule an employee's vacation leave in the vacation year in which it is earned; schedule the employee's vacation leave with pay for at least two (2) consecutive weeks, during the period requested, provided written notice of the period requested is given by the employee as soon as possible after April but not later than May schedule the employee's vacation leave with pay on any other basis than that specified in if the employee gives the Employer at least five (5) days' advance written notice for requests of vacation leave with pay of five (5) days or less. Upon request from the employee, the Employer may for good and sufficient reason schedule vacation leave with pay on shorter notice than that specified in clauses and If an employee requests vacation leave with pay in accordance with clause and the Employer denies his request due to the operational requirements of the service, the Employer agrees to make every reasonable effort, subject to the operational requirements of the service, to comply with any subsequent request made by the employee concerning his vacation leave. The Employer shall give an employee as much notice in writing as is practicable and reasonable of approval, disapproval or cancellation of a request for vacation leave. In the case of disapproval, alteration or cancellation of such leave, the Employer shall give the written reason therefore, upon written request from the employee. Where, in respect of any period of vacation leave with pay, an employee is granted: bereavement leave, or leave with pay because of illness in the immediate family, or sick leave on production of a medical certificate, the period of vacation leave with pay so displaced shall either be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and approved by the Employer or reinstated for use at a later date.
