Deputy Chief. Any employee and/or Council representative, who has a grievance, shall submit the grievance in writing to his Deputy Chief, specifically indicating that it is a grievance under the terms of the Agreement. The grievance shall contain a complete statement of the facts and circumstances, the provision(s) of the Agreement alleged to have been violated, and the relief sought. The grievance shall be filed on the form attached to this Agreement and labeled Appendix I. All grievances shall be filed within twenty (20) calendar days from the date of the occurrence which gave rise to the alleged violation, or twenty (20) days from the date from which the grievant should have become aware of the circumstances which led to the alleged violation. The Deputy Chief shall investigate the grievance and, if he deems necessary shall offer to discuss the grievance with the grievant and/or the Council at a mutually agreed upon time. Thereafter, the Deputy Chief shall render a written response to the grievant within ten (10) days after receipt of the grievance.

Deputy Chief. Effective April 1, 2016 the rank of Firefighter shall be divided into two classifications, Firefighter PM (Paramedic) and Firefighter EMT (EMT-Basic). All reference to firefighters and officers in the agreement shall include both sexes; wherever the male gender is used it shall be construed to include male and female employees. Any reference to Firefighter PM (FF-PM) or Firefighter EMT (FF-EMT) shall be specific to those classifications. All references to Firefighter are intended to include both FF-PM and FF-EMT.
Deputy Chief. (a) Failing satisfactory settlement, the grievance shall be submitted to the Deputy Chief within thirty (30) days of the time the incident, giving rise to the grievance, came to the attention of the grievor. The Deputy Chief shall meet with the grievor and UNION representatives. The Deputy Chief shall deliver his written decision to the UNION within five (5) days of receipt of the grievance.

Such filing shall state the specific article(s) allegedly violated and the remedy requested. The supervisor shall hear the appeal and render a written decision with specific articles or reasons that support his or her decision within ten (10) days after receiving the grievance.

Fire Inspector/Deputy Fire Marshal – Five (5) years of service as a career Firefighter in the Town of Greenwich. Fire Marshal – Two (2) years of service as a Deputy Fire Marshal in the Town of Greenwich. In the event that the Town creates the rank of Captain, the qualifications for Deputy Chief and Captain shall be modified to: Captain – Two (2) years of service as a Lieutenant in the Town of Greenwich.
