Vacancies can result from promotion, demotion, transfer, termination of an employee or from the addition of new positions. A vacancy is not created by an assignment change within the same job classification, same department, and on the same shift.

Definition of a Vacancy a. A vacancy is defined as the creation of a new position through Board action or a decision of the Board to fill a position which may have resulted from Board/Administrative action concerning transfer, retirement, resignation, termination, non-renewal, etc.
