Christmas/New Year’s. (a) In order to accommodate the Christmas/New Year’s scheduling, normal scheduling provisions shall not operate during the period of December 15th to January 9th (first weekend after New Year). (b) A part-time nurse shall not be scheduled to work both Christmas and New Year’s unless agreed otherwise. (c) A nurse who works Christmas shall be scheduled to be off for at least five (5) consecutive days over New Year’s and vice versa. Such days shall be provided through a combination of designated holidays and regularly scheduled days off, mutually agreed between the employee and the Employer. (d) Christmas time shall include Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. (e) New Year’s time shall include New Year’s Eve Day and New Year’s Day.
Christmas/New Year’s. 1. The department will schedule an employee to Christmas day or New Years’ day off. 2. Notwithstanding (1) above, if an employee so requests, the department will endeavour to schedule an employee up to three (3) consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Years. Said consecutive days off will include either Christmas or New Years day respectively. It would be understood that in endeavouring to schedule an employee up to three (3) consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Years, any scheduling restrictions and/or overtime or premium payments will be waived.

Where the Employer cannot schedule an employee for a day off or cannot schedule the day off on a rotating basis, the Employer will require the employee(s) to work in inverse order of seniority. In order that the Employer may accordingly schedule employees off, the normal scheduling provisions shall not apply during the period of December 15th to January 15th.

The choice of Christmas or New Year's will be in accordance with seniority. If the Employer is able to schedule any employees off for more than three (3) days and still satisfy its staffing requirements, the additional time off will be scheduled in accordance with seniority. It is agreed that the normal scheduling provisions shall not apply during the period of December 15th - January 8th and employees will not be granted vacation, floating holidays or lieu days, or personal leaves of absence during this period. In the event of conflict, bargaining unit seniority shall be the decisive factor. Written requests for this time off must be received by the Director of Resident Care by November 1st. Christmas and New Year's time off shall be posted by November 15th.

The schedule will be posted no later than October 15. (b) A part-time nurse shall not be scheduled to work both Christmas and New Year’s unless agreed otherwise. (c) A nurse who works Christmas shall be scheduled to be off for at least four (4) consecutive days over New Year’s and vice versa. Such days shall be provided through a combination of designated holidays and regularly scheduled days off, mutually agreed between the employee and the Employer. (f) Vacation requests must be submitted by September 1 to be considered based on seniority, for the Christmas and New Year’s periods. Vacation requests may be granted after the rotations have been finalized for the Christmas and New Year’s periods, on a day to day basis, based on seniority and operational requirements.

Such days shall be provided through a combination of designated holidays and regularly scheduled days off, mutually agreed between the nurse and the team (d) Christmas time shall include Christmas Eve day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. (e) New Year’s time shall include New Year’s Eve day and New Year’s Day. (f) A nurse who works Christmas/Boxing Day, shall not be required to work New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day. The nurses on each team will rotate the requirement to work Christmas/Boxing Day with New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day on alternate years.
Christmas/New Year’s. For full-time employees, the Employer will endeavor to schedule employees off at either Christmas or New Years in alternative years, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Every part-time employee shall make himself/herself available for at least two (2) of the four following shifts each year: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day. Failing sufficient staff making themselves as available to work these days, part-time employees will be assigned shifts, and if not worked, shifts will be marked as declined.
