To ensure ongoing relevance of the funding for educational equity initiatives in settings from transitional kindergarten through 8th grade, high school, and community college, Bayer would solicit proposals from local initiatives on a 10-year interval and facilitate a joint review comprised of leaders from Bayer’s philanthropic partner (Bayer Fund or successor entity), Berkeley Site Leadership, and subject matter expert appointees made by the Councilmember from District 2 (two appointees) and the Mayor (two appointees). Recommended allocation across the following programmatic areas: TK through 8th grade hands-on science education 10% High School Career Technical Education and/or STEM excellence, including paid internships for high school students at the Bayer campus 50% Community College programming and support for biotechnology and advanced manufacturing/engineering disciplines, including paid internships for community college students on the Bayer 40% campus Bayer DA Amendment Community Benefits Workshop WORKSESSION July 20, 2021 Affordable Housing Community benefit funds to support Affordable Housing objectives will be paid into the City of Berkeley’s Housing Trust Fund and disbursed from there at the discretion of the City Council.

Career Technical Education. Both the District and the Council agree that an active school to career program in the trades can be a benefit to many District students. The Council and the District agree to meet within six (6) months of execution of this Agreement to collaborate regarding the funding and expansion of construction career programming in the District, including by partnering with the Construction Trades Workforce Initiative (“CTWI”).

Instructional Leadership - To be eligible for a base salary increase, the teacher must complete one of the following activities: (a) Mentor or Peer Coach; (b) SIP Core Leadership Team; (c) District PBI\S Team; (d) District New Tech Team; (e) New Tech Coach; (I) Student Teacher Supervisor; (g) District Advisory Group; (h) Grant Writers who assist in writing grants beyond the school day; or (i) Individuals who present at conferences. Career Technical Education. Home Economics Extended Time will be compensated at the rate of two percent (2%) of the employee's salary for each assigned week. The number of weeks assigned is determined by foundation units.
