Transitional Kindergarten definition

Transitional Kindergarten means a program that provides education continuity from preschool to kindergarten pursuant to EC Section 8974.
Transitional Kindergarten means the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate.
Transitional Kindergarten means the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate, pursuant to Section 48000(d) of the Education Code.

Examples of Transitional Kindergarten in a sentence

  • Unit Members who teach kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten have the same number of work hours as the District first and second grade Unit Members.

  • Accordingly, for the 2013-2014, and 2014-2015 school years only, class sizes in kindergarten (including Transitional Kindergarten) and grades one (1) through three (3) will be adjusted as follows: For the 2013-2014 school year only, the maximum student-teacher ratio in Kindergarten shall remain at 20:1 and the student to teacher ratio in grades one (1) through three (3), shall remain at 32:1.

  • Transitional Kindergarten teachers shall have preparation time that is comparable to K-5 teachers through collaboration and discussion with administration.

  • For the 2018-2019 through the 2025-2026 school years, the target class size for grades Transitional Kindergarten through 1 shall be an annual school-wide average of twenty-five (25) to one (1) and for grades 2-3 shall be an annual school-wide average of twenty- seven (27) to one (1).

  • The annual number of unit member/student contact minutes in the classroom shall not exceed the following: Grades: Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st - 3rd 50,688 Grades: 4th - 5th and Preparation Period Teachers 54,528 Grades: 6th – 8th 58, 067 Grades: 9th – 12th 55,133 A more detailed chart illustrating the annual unit member/student contact minutes is attached as Appendix G and incorporated into this Agreement.

  • Although the District retains the right to load classes at the maximum class size listed below, the District will make reasonable efforts to staff for classes that average 20:1 in Transitional Kindergarten, 24:1 in grades K-3, 28:1 in grades 4-5, and 30:1 in grades 6-8.

  • There shall be no fewer than 46,260 instructional minutes per year at the Transitional Kindergarten level.

  • Teachers will be provided with three (3) half- days of release during the school year to collaborate with fellow Transitional Kindergarten teachers.
