Length of Leave definition

Length of Leave. A leave of absence may be granted for not more than 12 months. A specific date of return to duty must be established. Leaves granted for less than 12 months may be extended, if requested prior to expiration, for up to a total absence of 12 months.
Length of Leave. Each eligible employee may be granted an unpaid FMLA leave for a period up to 12 calendar weeks during a 12-month period. The 12-month period is measured forward from the date an employee’s first FMLA leave begins. In situations where both spouses work for the District, the spouses are limited to 12 weeks of leave in total during this 12-month period, unless the serious health condition of the employee or that of the employee’s spouse or child necessitates the leave. Employees may use any available unused paid time off (e.g., Cumulative Leave, vacation, etc.) as part of FMLA leave for the employee’s own serious health condition. Paid time off is counted on a day for day basis as part of the available FMLA leave. Vacation, holidays, and sick leave will not accrue during unpaid FMLA leave.
Length of Leave. For purposes of this policy, Hope Network defines the twelve (12) month period, during which up to twelve (12) weeks (or 26 weeks) of unpaid leave is available, as the most recent 12 calendar months (rolling or counting backward) from the date the requested leave begins. During this twelve-month period, an eligible employee is entitled to a combined total of 26 workweeks of leave to care for an injured service member and for another FMLA-qualifying reason. However, a 12-week cap still applies to any leave that does not qualify as “service member family leave.” If both spouses work for Hope Network, combined leave time for new child leave or leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition is twelve (12) weeks. The combined leave time to care for a service member is twenty-six (26) weeks.
