Family Medical Leave definition

Family Medical Leave means an unpaid leave taken for the purpose of caring for or supporting a family member who is gravely ill with a significant risk of death within twenty-six (26) weeks. The leave may be taken for up to a maximum of eight (8) weeks.
Family Medical Leave means a paid or unpaid leave of absence under FMLA.

Parent: The biological parent of an employee or an individual who stood in place of a parent to an employee when the employee was a son or daughter.
Family Medical Leave means leave taken pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act, the California Family Rights Act, or Civil Service Commission Rules, where such leave is taken after the birth of a child to the employee, the employee's spouse or the employee's domestic partner or for placement of a child with the employee's family for adoption or foster care, and has been requested and approved in accordance with the procedures set forth in those respective statutes or rules.
