Authorization Holds Sample Clauses

Authorization Holds. You do not have the right to stop payment on any purchase transaction originated by use of your Mobile Wallet, other than transactions withing the Mobile Wallet Marketplace that display a cancel transaction button. When you use your Mobile Wallet to pay for goods or services, certain merchants may ask us to authorize the transaction in advance and the merchant may estimate its final value. When you use your Mobile Wallet to obtain cash at an ATM or from a bank teller, we will authorize the transaction in advance (including all applicable fees). When we authorize a purchase transaction, we commit to make the requested funds available when the transaction finally settles, and the Bank will place a temporary hold on your Mobile Wallet’s funds for the amount indicated by the merchant. If you authorize a transaction and then fail to make a purchase of that item as planned, the approval may result in a hold for that amount of funds. Car rentals, hotels and other service-oriented merchants may choose to factor in additional amounts upon check-in, and it may take up to sixty (60) days after your stay or your rental to have any excess amounts held by the hotel or rental company added back to your available balance. Similarly, some gas stations may factor in additional amounts to cover potential filling of the tank; if you want to avoid such a hold, you may want to pay inside the gas station, instead of paying at the pump. Until the transaction finally settles, the funds subject to the hold will not be available to you for other purposes. We will only charge your Mobile Wallet for the correct amount of the final transaction, and we will release any excess amount when the transaction finally settles. When you use your Mobile Wallet at certain restaurants and service-oriented merchants, there may be an additional 20% (or more) added to the authorization to cover any tip you may leave on the purchase. If this occurs, and your total bill, after adding in the additional 20% (or more), exceeds the amount available on your Mobile Wallet, your transactions may be declined. Accordingly, you should ensure that your Mobile Wallet has an available balance that is 20% (or more) greater than your total bill before using your Mobile Wallet.

Authorization Holds. When you use your Card to purchase goods or services or to make a cash back withdrawal transaction, the merchant may request a preauthorization for the transaction. If the merchant makes such a request and there are sufficient available funds in your Account, we will approve the transaction and a “hold” is placed on your Account for the amount of the preauthorization request (which may vary in some cases from the amount of the actual purchase, depending on the merchant or purchase type), until the merchant sends the final payment amount of your purchase, or for up to sixty (60) days, even if you fail to make the purchase, to the extent permitted by applicable law. The merchant controls the timing of both the Card authorization and settlement of the transaction. During the hold period, you may not have access to the preauthorized amount in your Account. We will not be responsible if any transactions are not completed because of the hold. If the preauthorization request varies from the amount of the actual transaction, the actual transaction amount will be debited from your Account, even if this results in your Account balance becoming negative. You remain responsible for any negative balances in your Account. If you use the Card at an automated fuel dispenser (“pay at the pump”), the transaction may be preauthorized for an amount up to $100.00. If the Card is declined, but you have sufficient funds available in your Account for which the Card was issued, you should use the Card to pay for the purchase inside with the cashier. If you use the Card at a restaurant, a hotel, for a car rental purchase, or for similar purchases, the transaction may be preauthorized for the purchase amount plus up to 20% to ensure there are sufficient funds available to cover tips or incidental expenses incurred. You do not have the right to stop payment on any purchase or payment transaction originated by use of the Card once an authorization is approved.
Authorization Holds. We and/or some merchants may request preauthorization for a Cash Advance and/or purchases in the transaction amount plus an estimated additional amount to ensure there are sufficient funds available to cover tips or incidental expenses incurred. Such a preauthorization request may result in a “hold” on your available Card funds in the amount the merchant submits for preauthorization (“Authorization Hold”). Once the final amount of the transaction is determined and has been processed and settled, your Card will be debited for such amount and the Authorization Hold will be removed. During the period of any Authorization Hold, the Card funds that are subject to the Authorization Hold will generally not be available for other Card transactions. We will have no liability to you in the event we decline any Card transaction because an Authorization Hold is in place. We reserve the right to release, in our discretion, any Authorization Hold in order to make funds available for other Card transactions, and if we do so we will have no liability to you if we subsequently reject the transaction corresponding to the Authorization Hold due to insufficient Card Funds. We will have no liability to you in the event any merchant delays or fails to complete the final processing of any Card transaction that corresponds to an Authorization Hold, and/or in the event any merchant requests an Authorization Hold in error. In general, we will not be responsible for any transactions generated in error by merchants, processing agencies, or any other third parties not under our control, except as may be required under applicable law. During the period of any Authorization Hold the Card balance reported to you might not reflect that the Authorization Hold is or was in place because available balances are sometimes based on actual debits or credits to your Card rather than on Authorization Holds. You are responsible for knowing when you have initiated a Card transaction that might result in an Authorization Hold and for managing other Card transactions accordingly during the period of an Authorization Hold. Authorization Holds. When you use the Card in a POS transaction, the merchant may request an authorization for the transaction at the time of the transaction. In certain circumstances the payment authorization system permits the merchant to request authorization for an amount that may be less than (e.g., gas pump) or more than (e.g., hotel) the final amount of the transaction, which final amount may be unknown at the time of the transaction. In connection with POS authorization requests, we may place a hold on your account as directed by the merchant at the time of the transaction. Once such a hold is in place, the amount of the hold may not be available to pay checks, POS transactions, or other withdrawal or transfer orders or requests that you or other parties may make. The hold will be released when the merchant presents final amount and we process the transaction, or three business days after the transaction date whichever occurs first. During the time that a hold is in place, the balance reported to you by means of telephone banking, online banking, ATM, or your periodic statement may not reflect that the hold is or was in place against your account. During the period of any hold, we may, in our discretion, return items presented against your account or decline withdrawal and transfer requests, or we may pay such items and approve such withdrawal and transfer requests, if there are not sufficient funds in your account for such transactions in excess of the amount of the hold. You agree to be responsible for any overdraft and/or nonsufficient funds fees we assess as a result of transactions against insufficient funds in your account during the period of any POS authorization holds, subject to the requirements of applicable law or regulation. You are responsible for knowing when you have made a POS transaction that might result in a hold and for not initiating transactions against insufficient funds during the period of any hold. We have no obligation to release the hold at any time. You agree to release us from liability based on our return of items and/or our refusal to allow withdrawal or transfer requests when there are insufficient funds in your account due to any POS authorization hold. You further release us from any and all liability in the event any merchant delays or fails to complete the final processing of any POS transaction that you may have initiated with the merchant, and/or in the event any merchants places an authorization hold against your account in erro...

Authorization Holds. When you use your Card to pay for goods or services, certain merchants may ask us to authorize the transaction in advance and may estimate its final value. When we authorize the transaction, we commit to make the requested funds available when the transaction finally settles and may place a temporary hold on your Card’s funds for the amount indicated by the merchant. We also may add an amount for certain merchants to ensure that sufficient funds will be available to cover the final transaction. Transactions at certain merchants that authorize high dollar amounts, especially rental car companies and hotels, may cause an “authorization” or “hold” on your available balance for up to 30 days. Until the transaction finally settles or we determine that it is unlikely to be processed, the funds subject to the hold will not be available to you for other purposes. We will only charge your Card for the correct amount of the final transaction, however, and will release any excess amount when the transaction finally settles.
Authorization Holds. When you use your Card to purchase goods or services or to obtain cash from a merchant, the merchant may attempt to obtain preauthorization from us for the transaction. If the merchant makes such a request, we place a hold on your PayPal balance for up to thirty (30) days for the amount of the preauthorization request (which may vary in some cases from the amount of the actual purchase, depending on the merchant). This hold may affect the availability of funds in your PayPal account. If you authorize a transaction and then fail to make a purchase of that item as planned, the approval may result in a hold for that amount of funds for up to thirty (30) days. All transactions that involve incremental adjustment to preauthorization will result in a hold for that amount of funds for up to another thirty (30) days from the adjustment date. We will not be responsible if any transactions are not completed because of the hold. If the preauthorization request varies from the amount of the actual transaction, we will debit the actual transaction amount from your PayPal balance.

Once the final payment amount is received, the preauthorization amount on hold will be removed. During this time, you will not have access to preauthorized amounts. If you authorize a transaction and then fail to make a purchase of that item as planned, the approval may result in a hold for that amount of funds.

In some cases, a merchant may request pre-authorization for a transaction, which are subject to a hold on your Deposit Account for up to thirty (30) days. Merchants may decide to increment the pre-authorized amount if the amount is insufficient for the final purchase, or, they may request to extend the same authorization amount if the final purchase date will be in the future. These events may result in a hold for that amount of funds for up to another thirty (30) days from the adjustment date. We will not be responsible for any transactions not completed because of the hold. If the preauthorization request varies from the amount of the actual transaction, we will debit the actual transaction amount from your Deposit Account, even if this results in a negative balance in your Deposit Account.
