Use of Sick Leave Benefits. Xxxx leave is not a right which an employee may use at his discretion, but rather a negotiated benefit for use in case of personal sickness, disability or legal quarantine because of exposure to contagious disease. Up to two scheduled work days per fiscal year may be used for the illness and care of immediate family members. Fraudulent use of sick leave may result in discipline, up to and including termination. Sick leave hours do not constitute hours worked under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Use of Sick Leave Benefits. 1. Employees’ sick leave benefits may be used when the employee is absent due to illness or injury or when the employee is absent to attend to an ill or injured member of the employee's immediate family as defined in Section 17.1 A.
Use of Sick Leave Benefits. An Employee absent from duty on account of sickness or other pressing necessity must inform his immediate supervisor before the hour he is to report for duty. The Employer may deny sick leave to any Employee during the hours he was required to call in sick but failed to do so. The Employer may require an Employee in a designated group of Employees to call in sick up to two (2) hours before his scheduled start time at his headquarters where another Employee has to be called to replace him.

Use of Sick Leave Benefits. A. Sick leave benefits may be used when the faculty member is absent due to an on or off-the-job illness or injury or when the faculty member is absent to attend to an ill or injured member of the faculty member’s immediate family. For the purpose of this Section immediate family shall mean spouse, domestic partner regardless of sex, the faculty member's and spouse's parent, brother, sister, grandparent, child, step-child, step-parent, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, or grandchild, provided the above individual resides in and is an integral part of the faculty member's household. Sick leave may also be used for parental leave if the faculty member qualifies for a leave of absence under the Oregon Family Leave Act.

  • Use of Sick Leave a. An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill. Such leave may be taken for part of a single day.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

An employee may not use vacation or personal leave credits to supplement Workers’ Compensation.

The employee has the duty to insure that they make other arrangements, within a reasonable period of time, for the attendance upon children or other persons in the employee’s care. Certification of an attending physician or practitioner may be required by the Agency to support the employee’s claim for sick leave if the employee is absent in excess of seven (7) days, or if the Agency has evidence that the employee is abusing sick leave privileges. The Agency may also require such certificate from an employee to determine whether the employee should be allowed to return to work where the Agency has reason to believe that the employee’s return to work would be a health hazard to either the employee or to others. (See Section 4 for FMLA and OFLA.)
