Absent from Duty Clause Samples

The "Absent from Duty" clause defines the rules and consequences when an employee fails to attend work without authorization. Typically, this clause outlines the procedures for reporting absences, the documentation required (such as medical certificates), and the potential disciplinary actions for unapproved or unexplained absences. Its core function is to ensure workplace reliability and accountability by setting clear expectations for attendance and providing a framework for managing unauthorized absences.
Absent from Duty. 42 Employees who are absent from duty for reasons other than those provided for in this Agreement, 43 Article IX, will be suspended without pay for three (3) days for first violation and subject to 44 termination for second violation within any three (3) year period of time. Such discipline includes, 45 but is not limited to, violation or misuse of any leave provision included within this Agreement.
Absent from Duty. 25.1 Where a staff member is absent from duty without proper approval, all pay and other benefits under this Agreement will cease to be available until they resume duty or leave is granted. The granting of leave may be made at any time.
Absent from Duty. (a) If you are absent from work without authorisation by ANZ, ANZ may make equivalent deductions from your pay for the period of your absence. (b) Except in circumstances where you have a reasonable concern about an imminent threat to your health and safety and do not unreasonably fail to comply with a direction to perform alternate available work, if you refuse to carry out any duty or duties which you are reasonably required and requested to do in the course of your employment, you will be regarded as absent from duty and may not be paid until you carry out the duties as required. (c) If you are absent from work for more than 10 consecutive working days without authorisation by ANZ, and you do not contact your manager during that time or despite such contact fail to establish to the satisfaction of your manager that you were absent for reasonable cause, ANZ is entitled to assume that you have abandoned your employment. ANZ will make every reasonable effort to try to contact you during this period. If ANZ is unable to contact you or you do not respond to our attempts to contact you, ANZ will regard you as having resigned from your employment after the 10 day period has ended. The effective date of the termination of your employment will be the last day you worked or the date of your last approved absence from work.
