Traffic Signals. Based upon the results of the Traffic Warrant Studies, the Engineer shall identify and prepare Traffic Signal Plans for all warranted traffic signals. The Engineer shall confirm the power source for all signals and coordinate with the appropriate utility agency. Traffic Signal Plans must be signed and sealed by a Texas Registered Professional Engineer. The Engineer shall develop all quantities, general notes, specifications and incorporate the appropriate agency standards required to complete construction. Traffic signal poles, fixtures, signs, and lighting must be designed per the Green Ribbon Report recommendations and standards. Traffic Signals. If the sequence of operations, staging, or the temporary traffic control plan requires the relocation or shifting of any components of an existing traffic signal system then any work on these traffic signals will be considered as part of Lump Sum- Traffic Control. The contractor becomes responsible for the maintenance of these traffic signals from the time that the system is modified until final acceptance. The maintenance of traffic signals that are not a part of the work and are not in conflict with any portion of the work shall not be the responsibility of the contractor. When construction operations necessitate an existing traffic signal to be out of service, the Contractor shall furnish off-duty police officers to regulate and maintain traffic control at the site. Off-duty police officers should be used to regulate and maintain traffic control at signal sites when lane closures or traffic shifts block or restrict movements causing interference with normal road user flows and will not allow the activated traffic signal to guide the traffic through the signal site.
Traffic Signals. The City shall conform the location, form and character of informational, regulatory and warning signs, of traffic signals and of curb and pavement or other markings installed or placed by any public authority, or other agency as authorized by K.S.A. 8- 2005, to the manual and specifications adopted by KDOT under K.S.A. 8-2003, and any amendments thereto are incorporated by reference and shall be subject to the approval of the Secretary.
