Sickness During Vacation. When an employee qualifies and is approved for sick leave, bereavement, or any other approved leave during the employee's vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall, by mutual agreement between the employer and the employee, be either added to the vacation period or reinstated for use at a later date. Substantiation of all claims for deferred vacation must be provided, if requested.

Sickness During Vacation. (a) A permanent employee who becomes ill while on vacation leave may substitute that period while ill with sick leave, if the employee produces a certificate from a qualified medical practitioner or nurse practitioner stating the period during which the employee was incapacitated and the nature of the illness.
Sickness During Vacation. Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a serious illness requiring the employee to be an in-patient in a hospital, the period of such hospitalization shall be considered sick leave provided the employee provides a satisfactory documentation of the illness and the hospitalization. The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be sick leave under the above provision will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits.
Sickness During Vacation. Where an employee commences annual vacation and becomes incapacitated either through illness or injury, the period of incapacity, provided that it extends for three (3) consecutive days or more, will be deemed to be sick leave rather than vacation, always provided that a medical certificate is produced certifying that the employee was, in fact, incapacitated for the period claimed. The vacation period during which the employee was incapacitated shall be taken later, on dates to be mutually agreed upon by the employee and the Department Head.

Employees will be expected to provide proof of illness during vacations by way of a letter from a doctor. For the purpose of this clause, sick leave replacement shall only be for a serious disabling accident or serious illness in excess of four (4) working days and requiring medical intervention; or resulting in admission to a hospital.
Sickness During Vacation. An employee who becomes seriously ill or injured before or during their vacation may reschedule only the vacation days that were affected by the illness within the same calendar year, or, with managerial approval, in the next calendar year. Employees who become incapacitated during their vacation period shall notify the Company as soon as possible and will be requested to provide a physician’s documentation of the illness / injury and the name, address and phone number of the doctor who provided treatment. Such information shall be submitted to, and may be verified by, the Company’s Disability Administrator.
Sickness During Vacation. If an employee becomes hospitalized while on vacation leave, on provision of a medical certificate from her physician, her vacation leave will be credited back by the Employer and the employee shall be entitled to claim against unused sick leave credits. Any credits for sick leave shall be deducted from the employee’s earned sick leave benefits.
