Secondary Teachers. Rockford Middle Schools, Rockford Freshman Center and Rockford Senior High School teachers’ day shall be seven twenty-five a.m. to two forty p.m. (7:25 – 2:40), with a thirty (30) minute lunch period in the Middle schools, Freshman Center and Senior High schools.

Secondary Teachers. Secondary teachers will be given not less than 275 (two hundred seventy-five) minutes of preparation time per week within the student day. Preparation periods will be 55 (fifty-five) minutes in length.
Secondary Teachers a. A teaching assignment shall be defined as time during the instructional week devoted to teaching courses and lessons, and shall include time assigned to supervise curricular activities, including study periods but not including period changes or breaks.

Secondary Teachers. The maximum assignment of subjects for any secondary school teacher shall be five periods in a six-period day or six periods in a seven- or eight-period day. Each teacher shall have one period during the student contact day for preparation and conferences.

Minimum Non-Contact Time per week will be 20%(plus or minus 2%) of the school’s actual Time Tabled Time. In the event that a teacher’s workload is greater than that in 49.22(b)(3) during some of the year, then it will be addressed through the provisions in the Teacher Workload Agreement established in accordance with Clause 49.1 – 49.3. The Maximum Student Contact Time and Minimum Non-Contact Time will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis for part time teachers. Note: The following table gives the Maximum Student Contact Time and Minimum Non-Contact Time for a teacher in a school adopting the Maximum Time Tabled Time for its number of Term Weeks. Secondary Teachers. At the secondary level, in schools where the instructional periods are of a duration of 50 minutes no teacher shall be obliged to accept an assignment of more than 210 minutes of consecutive workload. After the 210th minute of workload, a break of a duration of a teaching period or a lunch period shall intervene before the beginning of the next period of instruction, unless the teacher agrees to a different arrangement.
Secondary Teachers. The class load and schedule shall be reviewed by a committee which shall include the Superintendent, or his designee, principal, teacher and an Association Representative, if the teacher requests. The committee will take into consideration student safety and the quality of instruction in its deliberations.
