School Day and School Year. A. The work day for bargaining unit members shall be seven (7) hours and fifteen (15) minutes of consecutive time. The work day shall be between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The work year shall be 183 days and, except for those individual bargaining unit members on extended duty, shall not begin earlier than August 15th of one calendar year and shall end no later than June 15th of the next calendar year. The 4:00 pm ending time of the school day and the June 15th ending day of the school year may be adjusted if there is a need to make up additional calamity days.
School Day and School Year. The Board will schedule a three (3) day holiday next to a weekend during the second semester. The holiday period shall be set annually by the Board. The holiday period shall not be counted in the basic contract year as defined in the salary schedule. The Board will schedule Christmas and Good Friday as non-contract days each year. The Board retains the sole right, in its discretion, to set the school calendar. The normal school year for teachers shall not exceed 1344 duty hours of teaching and other assignments as designated by the Board. The normal school day for teachers shall be determined by the principal and as directed by the superintendent of schools. The lunch period shall not be counted as a part of the duty day. The principal shall not normally schedule more than 8 contract hours per day. The regular teaching year shall be 1178 hours of instructional time with students. When students are dismissed early the teacher’s duty day shall be reduced proportionately, with the time on duty being considered as part of the total contract time. The board of education shall have the authority to determine whether and when days or parts of days missed due to inclement weather or other reasons shall be made up. Certain activities are considered as basic requirements for meeting the educational needs of the students. The times for conducting these activities shall be determined by the principal or appropriate administrator and may exceed the normal day and yearly duty hours if deemed necessary. The principal or appropriate administrator will designate who shall be in attendance at such activities. The activities shall include, but not be limited to, faculty meetings, supervisory assignments, parent-teacher conferences, building team meetings, staffings, and conferences in connection with development of individual education plans. Building administrators should make reasonable efforts when scheduling the above activities to give consideration to part-time teachers and teachers who are assigned to more than one building. It is not the intent that the authority granted in this paragraph to exceed the normal school day be used to assign teachers to duties for which they or others currently receive additional compensation. All teachers and nurses, regardless of assignment, are expected to be available for duty at the times determined by this policy. School Day and School Year. 11.1 Professional employees shall work 185 days including 177 student days. The eight non-student days shall include either one day or two-half-days before the start of the student year, which the teachers may use for classroom preparation. There will be four non-student days used for professional development. Professional development activities shall be determined by the administration with input from the staff based on current school and Board goals as well as current needs. There will be four early release days (2 in November and 2 in April) for parent/teacher conferences. The days after students conclude their school year shall be used for closing meetings at the administration’s discretion and classroom close up. There will be two days prior to the start of the student year for use by the administration.

  • DURATION OF SCHOOL DAY AND YEAR 33C) The duration of the school day and year will be the responsibility of the Academy Trust.

  • Bilingual Pay 1. Except as provided in 2. below, qualified employees who meet the following criteria shall receive an additional forty (40) cents per hour (approximately sixty-nine [69] dollars per month) for all hours actually paid. This will not apply to the class of Interpreter.

  • School Calendar The Dual Credit course schedule will be determined by the location of the course delivery, provided that the required contact hours and prerequisites are met. The instructional calendar for the high school portion of the School will be based on the School District calendar and comply with all related TEA regulations for school attendance. The School District will adjust its schedule as necessary to enable Students to enroll in and attend the college- level courses provided by College. The School District and College will coordinate the State Student assessment requirements to ensure said assessments are administered without penalty. The School District, School and College will ensure that the School calendar accounts for the required per-semester contact hours for courses. When the instructional delivery is on the College site, it may be necessary for Students to attend classes on days when the School District is closed (e.g., different holiday closures). When Students take classes at the College scheduled on days when School is closed, the School District will ensure that at least one staff member with administrative authority be on call and available to be reached by the College’s Office of High School Programs or other College staff in case of emergency. The designated School staff member will have access to Student emergency contact information. While the College agrees to make scheduling accommodations for required State assessments, including the STAAR and End of Course Exams, all contact hour requirements must be met. For assessments not mandated by the State, the College and School District will come to a mutual agreement on administration dates in order to appropriately manage disruptions of college courses and ensure contact hour requirements are met.

  • Length of School Day 4.4.1 For each school the length of the “school day” shall be determined according to the requirement that students are normally required to be in attendance for two HD, one before noon, the other after noon.
