Professional Development Requirements Clause Samples
The Professional Development Requirements clause sets out the obligations for employees or contractors to engage in ongoing learning or training relevant to their roles. Typically, this clause specifies the types of professional development activities required, such as attending workshops, obtaining certifications, or completing continuing education courses, and may outline who bears the associated costs. Its core function is to ensure that personnel maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge, thereby supporting organizational competence and compliance with industry standards.
Professional Development Requirements. Teachers shall meet the professional development obligations required by law, including requirements of MCL 380.1526 and MCL 380.1527 and report such compliance with the District office prior to June 1 or 15 days prior to the state submission deadline of each school year. (The District shall provide a form for reporting professional development activities.) Failure to report or meet such requirements by the deadline shall result in a salary reduction of ¼% of a teacher’s base pay. Such reduction shall be taken in the teacher’s June 23 paycheck. If District professional development time is not approved by the state, no reduction of ¼% base pay will occur. Should the teacher’s failure to meet the professional development requirements of the State result in a loss of teacher certification, the teacher’s employment will be terminated. NEW TEACHER PROVISION Teachers in their first three years of service cannot count District Provided Professional Development identified above as part of the additional professional development required under Section 56 of the Revised School Code, or any successor provision. MCL 380.1526.

Expectations for completion of professional development shall be discussed and assessed during the Employee’s annual performance review. Paypoint progression will be subject to the Employee successfully completing the negotiated requirements for professional development. Rates below represent minimum rates of pay for each classification based on standard progression movements. Over-agreement payments may be awarded at the discretion of the Board of Management. Wage rates for Lifestyle Support Workers (LSW) shall be as follows: LSW Level 1 (on entry) $17.53 LSW Level 2 $17.88 LSW Level 3 $18.24 LSW Level 4 $18.60 LSW Level 5 $18.97 Level 1 of the Lifestyle Support Worker classification shall be increased according to the decisions of the Australian Fair Pay Commission (AFPC) as awarded from time to time. Levels 2 – 5 shall then be increased by adding 2% to the preceding Level as follows: • Level 2 = 2% additional to new Level 1 rate; • Level 3 = 2% additional to new Level 2 rate; • Level 4 = 2% additional to new Level 3 rate; and • Level 5 = 2% additional to new Level 4 rate.
