Production Team. If you’re going to go for a thing, there’s no point unless you’re going all the way (Xxxxxxx Xxxxx) The Director of each production is responsible for assembling a Production Team (see roles listed below). The Tech Lead allocates a specific Technical Coordinator to each production who can support and advise where necessary; if there are difficulties with recruitment they should be consulted in the first instance. It is important that the online Production Information Spreadsheet is completed and kept updated by the Director or other designated member of the team. Production Team roles ● Director Tower Theatre productions are led by the Director who will have pitched the show in the first instance. They make decisions on casting, lead the rehearsal process, gather together and guide the Production Team and manage the production schedule ensuring artistic cohesion and a healthy and rewarding working environment for all concerned. I used to think directing was telling people what to do. Now I think directing is creating an environment where everyone can just do their best thing. (Xxxx Xxxxxx, Director) ● Assistant Director The Artistic Director will help with identifying an Assistant Director that fits well with the project - trying to match emerging new directors to projects that (a) will give them an opportunity to learn, and (b) where their particular experience or skill set could be a valuable asset. It is important that the Assistant Director shares the Director’s vision for the production. Having some particular areas of responsibility (e.g. running warm ups, organising communications, liaising with marketing, etc.) is also helpful. • Stage Manager (See also further notes here) It is the Stage Manager’s responsibility to assemble a backstage crew. Depending on requirements this may involve sourcing a DSM, ASMs, lighting and sound operators (as nominated by the Tech Team), etc. (see below – Crewing the Production). It is also the responsibility of the Stage Manager to ensure a Production Risk Assessment is completed at an early production meeting. Many Stage Managers generally attend most, if not all, rehearsals and will be willing to take timings and prompt once books are down. They will also make notes of any production requirements. Stage Managers will usually provide rehearsal props and will have assembled the actual show props by the time of the Get-In to the theatre. By convention, props are anything handled by actors. Production Team. 3.12 Staff located within the Lifting Shop will be designated the Production Team and will be required to engage with and deliver; Targeted multi-skilling aligned with a competence-based skills matrix which will deliver full flexibility to enable production targets of components and heavy maintenance schedules. Undertake service and repair of Depot based plant and equipment. Cleaning and upkeep of work areas and steam cleaning of work and components (duty of care). Maintaining competence and maintaining records of self-development. Rostered 4-day week Mon-Thurs and Tues-Fri alternate weeks (if required). Flexible start (between 07:00-07:30) and finish time (between 16:00- 16:30). Lunch breaks and rest breaks to be determined by production needs. On Call and Breakdown provision for train failures and staffing emergencies. Change of working week for weekend cover in the event of major failures or extreme weather.
