Legal Days. A driver shall be entitled to time necessary for appearances in any legal proceedings connected with the driver's employment or with the school system, except in those cases where the driver is a defendant and the school board is a plaintiff, and cases where the driver is a plaintiff and the school board is a defendant.

Legal Days. With the exception of a tenure hearing or other matters adverse to the employee, time shall be granted for appearances in legal proceedings connected with the employee’s employment with the school district or in any other legal proceeding if the employee is required to attend by law. Days that the employee receives a subpoena are considered to be legal days.
Legal Days. With the advance approval of the Superintendent, a unit member may take one (1) day per year with pay or transactions involving a legal instrument (deed, mortgage, property title, etc.) or a court order or other legal appearance not able to be held at another time. Additional days may be used with the approval of the Superintendent.
Legal Days. When an employee’s personal presence is required during their normal work schedule in order to attend a legal proceeding or procedure, not involving the employee as a party, a written request for time off shall be directed to the Personnel Office. This request must be accompanied by a copy of the documentation pertinent to the legal proceeding (subpoena, citation, etc.). When the employee is required to be personally present for a matter not involving the employee as a party, the employee shall work up until a minimum of one hour or the reasonable time needed for travel before the scheduled time of the employee’s participation in the proceeding and shall return to work immediately following his or her involvement in the proceeding. Where unusual circumstances occur where more than one hour is needed for travel, additional time shall be granted. Time off with pay shall be allowed for an employee’s presence at a legal proceeding as defined above. Time off without pay for an employee’s presence at a legal matter other than as above defined will be at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources. It is understood that time taken from work for legal business, either with or without pay, will be taken by the employee if the legal business cannot be conducted outside of the normal work day.

Legal Days. A teacher under contract, called for jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness shall, during the required period of absence from assigned duty by the school employer, be paid full regular salary less the total amount of per diem allowance earned by such teacher for jury duty provided, however, such teacher shall make claim, collect, and deliver to the school employer, properly endorsed, the amount payable for such jury duty. The school employer shall reimburse that portion allotted for mileage and meals to said teacher. This provision does not apply if a teacher is subpoenaed as a witness during legal action involving the employment status of a school employee unless the employee is subpoenaed by the school employer.

  • Lieu Days Where an employee is granted a lieu day pursuant to Clause 17.3 or 17.4 of this Agreement, the time off granted will be seven (7) hours per lieu day for a full-time employee and prorated for a part-time employee.
